Realistically Trout MS66 is such a low grade in the decimal gradings although coins coming from the mint these days, are lucky to even grade that high

I recently sent a 2015 Mint set away to be graded, here are the results. 10c MS64 20c Genuine UNC Detalis (scratch) turned out to be a planchet flaw.I gave this coin to Markn because he likes this kind of thing. 50c MS69 $1 MS64 The 5c and $2 coins were not even worth submitting. I have a 2015 Proof set getting graded at the moment , it will be interesting to see if these fare any better. |

that is a disappointing set of grades you got from a mint set trout1105 it really shows how bad the quality control is at the mint , I would of assummed that the mint set coins would be first coins minted from a new set of dies from half decent plancets , to only get MS 64 for 2 of your coins is not good enough in 2015

The new die has nothing to do with it, the damage is being caused by what happens after they are minted (from the conveyor into a barrel).

As these are produced the year before issue and they are charging nearly 10x face for these sets you would think that the Mint would take due care to ensure that coins are NOT damaged. They can do this on the proof sets why not the Mint sets as well? |

As promised here are the results from a 2015 proof set I sent to PCGS. $2 PR68DC $1 PR69DC 50c PR70DC 20c PR69DC 10c PR70DC 5c PR70DC 3 out of 6 coins grading at FDC/PR70DC and the lowest grade is PR68DC. Just shows that RAM CAN produce coins of high quality so why not apply that same quality process to the Mint sets  I also sent a batch of Wedding Set coins in and out of 22 coins 16 came back MS69, 4 @MS68 and 2 @ MS67 |

For some reason the wedding sets do grade a lot higher I have heard. Unsure why as the process SHOULD be the same as the making of the coins for the General UNC set

I have always maintained that these sets are in fact Specimen coins that have been struck at a higher pressure than the circ coins and the dies used were "Hand Picked" These coins are similar to the pre decimal Proof coins in their Quality and the Blinding Lustre on them. The mirror like fields and the almost perfect strike on these coins make these stand out amongst the circulation coins. Chalk and Cheese really  |

latest up date for australian ebay listings 2,751 results for PCGS , and wait for it, 42 results for aPCGS , the numbers do not lie, the end of APCGS is near very near Edited by PNC king
