Someone paid $305 for an obvious counterfeit 1880CC Morgan and left positive feedback? Where are these bidiots coming from?

I asked him how he new his coins were not fakes, this is his reply.

Hello,

1. this coin been more then 50 years in our parent home.
2. we been bring all our parent collection coins to our city here and went to several pawnstore to sell. we spend few hours in every pawnstore that interested o view all our coin in details. for your information, some coins were sold to several pawnstore.
3. there is no any bad comment to all our coins even we been up to 3 pawnstore.
4. we have no idea or knowledge in coin collection, we just google for the coin name and list on ebay.
5. we count on ebay bidders, as we all know ebay has lot of expert and professional peoples. And they will review and see the coin to bid. The less bid or no bid coin MAY BE fake or no market value. The higher the bid the higher the possibility and market value.
6. we list all our coin start 0.99 with no reserve. we let the bidder judge on our coins. we write everything we know with no hidden.

thanks

No racism or negative intentions about the Seller's grammer, BUT ...just reading his reply to the inquiry should tell you everything you need to know about the "coins".

$9.00 Shipping from outside the US but it lists as being sold from Washington State? Also, super long wait time for delivery, probably to get rid of his "HOARD" and disappear before he can be caught.

I have reported several of this "beauties" listings as well. Trouble is not just the scammer sellers , it is the greedy bargain bidiots who cannot be saved from themselves. A lot of times I feel they reap exactly what they sew. That said ebay has to stop sellers of Counterfeit and spurious items................... PERIOD.

The reporting link that ratio411 posted was shut down several months ago. You can still send reports through it but they don't go anywhere. They are no longer monitored or acted on by ebay.

That link used to be very effective because it went directly to a group of knowledgeable people that could quickly determine if the items were fake and ebay acted on their reports. But ebay disbanded the group about 4 or 5 months ago. Since then counterfeits have been running rampant and it is now very difficult to get them removed.

Do you have an inside line Bobby? I've never had results in reporting listings since the CCW was demolished and gave up some time ago because it seemed to be a waste of my time.

Yes, but I cannot reveal anything. I'm working close with ebay to hopefully make things better. It's a slow process but as you can see they are listening.

Bobby:

It's awesome when we can get some of the auctions taken off...

However, what are they going to do about the coins he sold the last few days,
that are obviously fake, but the buyers have paid and left positive feedback?

Are they going to reverse those sales, or at least contact the buyer and give
them the knowledge they need to decide if they should make a claim?

ebay used to allow you to see the bidder names, and you could let bidders know this
stuff. Then they made it to where you could only see the end buyer's name, after
the auction was over... and at least you could clue in the buyer. Now they have
made it where you can't even know who the buyer was, ever. No way to give them
a heads up. I think ebay wants it this way. More sales stay sales, more money for ebay.

I made them aware of those sales, not sure what they'll do.
