I just noticed a discrepancy with this album and mine is in my safety deposit box which I obviously can't get to on the weekends. The Shield nickel date for without rays seems to be correct at 1866 - 1867 but the Shield nickel without rays is dated 1866 - 1883. I would assume this is a typo but are all the Dansco's that way?

I think you enjoy it much more if you assembled the set on your own and hand selected each coin.

Oh yes to clarify I am not looking to buy this set I, like others have stated, will much enjoy picking out my own coins and completing my own journey. I was just wondering what an average dates, average grades (EF or XF) of all the coins would be eventually. And like it was also mention it would definitely depend on the timing and market too. $6000 definitely seems like a bit much especially if you are more focused on completing the set over having each coin flawless. Thanks for your answers everyone!

Hard to put a price on something that took a collector time to build their collection, the efforts can't be counted into the price. That's the part one enjoy building their own set, and when you decided to part with it, maybe the hardest to figure a realistic selling price. I mean look at collectors building a low ball slab set, what kind of market price you would pay?

Hello all! Relatively new here, but I agree with everyone else. I just purchased my dansco 7070 album w/ gold page for 28$ at my local coin show.
Figuring I have adhd and want to collect a little bit of everything, the 7070 album is a perfect way to scratch that itch! BUILD ON

diablo...great find at the coin show. On the secondary market they are selling for much more than that. Both you gentlemen enjoy building your 7070's. They are a fun album to buy for.

It is hard to tell from the pictures as they are not clear enough to really get a feel for grade and condition of each coin. That said, this seems like a decent price overall - it seems like there are some pretty nice coins in there. In other words, if you assembled your own set that LOOKED like this set, I think $5900 is in the ballpark for value.

I assembled my 7070 coin by coin which I highly recommend. It is probably on average in VF condition - some higher, some lower. I have a value in my head for it as $5000-6000.

Sort of like buying a car, sight unseen. Hoping it is OK, works, etc. Without looking at each coin in any series or Albums is just like buying that car, sight unseen.

Personally I think building of the album and getting to select through each coin is half of the excitement alone. heck on each coin you can learn something new too from the person you are buying it from. Building a 7070 album is a awesome way to get a whole variety of different coins and all new information on the coins as you build!

Putting together a 7070 set almost a decade ago is what rekindled my interest in the hobby. This is just my opinion, but I personally cannot imagine wanting to buy or sell a completed 7070 album. I couldn't see myself buying a completed 7070 album, because I enjoyed locating, buying and filling the holes in the album one by one. Likewise, I couldn't see myself selling my completed 7070 album, because of all of the memories of locating, buying and filling the holes in the album.

I credit the 7070 with rekindling my interest in coin collecting and with giving me something to do with my grandparents during the last few years before they died. My grandparents started me with coin collecting in the 70s, when they would take me to the local coin club meetings. I rejoined that coin club with my children (currently ages 9, 13 and 15).

I am currently working on a second 7070 registry set, this time with PCGS and NGC graded coins that are MS 63 or higher.
