Although I'm mostly a coin collector my entry into the most interesting Canadian coin or banknote is this 1902 $4 Dollar banknote. Why I find it interesting? 1. The denomination of 4 or Four Dollars 2. Actual ink signature, no 2 signatures would be identical. 3. Obverse picture of the "United Empire" as she passes though one of the locks on the St.Lawrence Seaway. The Seaway had just be completed and was a monumental huge venture built jointly by Canada and USA. 4. Very large banknote, about twice the size of today's. Back then they carried huge wallets to hold this cowboy cash. 5. Only 116 are know to have survived.

As much as I'd love to win, I have to throw my vote to Wireman!

All of these entries are awesome, but the 4 dollar note certainly gets my vote. Very interesting.

Wireman09 excellent $4 bill, gets my vote as well. Signatories must have had writer's cramp. Thanks for the fun youngen19, and 47P7Good luck adding to your collections in 2015! Happy New Year

While it may not have gone the way you imagined it, I certainly appreciated the opportunity to show off one of my few Canadians...even if it wasn't interesting to most!
Thanks, 47P7!

Much appreciated, thanks for the fun. youngen19, I have two 50 cent pieces, that's what we called them when I was young; 1976, and 2002P Both have different designs on the reverse and obverse from your nice silver one, they are both nickel but are interesting granny bait nonetheless. If you PM me your address, I will send these out to you as a third place prize. Happy New Year.

Thank you for your votes and to 47P7 for hosting this contest. I also would have liked to have seen more entrys. Very nice looking coins youngen19 and SilverDon and thanks for sharing. @SilverDon...Back in 1902 it looks like signing banknotes would have been in your job description. Definitely would get writers cramp as there wasn't even ball point pens yet. The thinking then was on large value banknotes ($4 was alot of money) it would be harder to counterfeit.

That's a lot of dipping the quill in the ink. Tennis elbow and carpal tunnel.

Thanks 47P7 for the great coin. It is my first Edwardian coin, second oldest and first silver 5 cent coin. Again many thanks.
