Very suspicious. But the 1909 s vdb looks like it might be real. If it's a fake, it's a good fake.

the buyer's account looks like a hijacked account.
I think the sale was rigged.

I do due diligence on a $40 coin, and these guys throw 5k at the wind. Wow!

I have to say, if they fell for that... I'm not sure I have any sympathy for them.

Who would bid on this extremely rare coin based on those photos?

I would not touch this coin unless certified by one of the big three.

These bidders are crazy.

How about this one for $19,449? Check out the reverse and tell me what you think is going on between the E and N in CENT?

His credentials are off the chart. It's legit if that's what your asking..I have no doubt.

Not sure if that's damage or what. Larger, sharper images needed.

Don't know if that was a sarcastic response about the seller OP was referencing! or the seller in my link? I am not questioning the seller's bonafides in my question, I am only asking what is going on with the reverse of the coin?

Seller in your link. No sarcasm intended.

As for the reverse, again, not clear enough to tell.
Almost looks like a scrape.

Would you let your sister date anyone that would purposely display a coin like that? I don't think so!

Whatever is going on with the reverse of that coin; I wouldn't pay $19,500 looking like that.

It's post strike damage. If this was a common coin it would have gotten a details label, but it's an 1856 so it was ignored. Kind of like how the Dexter specimen of the 1804 dollar with a D punched into the reverse got slabbed as a PF-65.
