Quote: Is the CCF among the five biggest coin forums in the World? From the research I've completed, I would wager it to be in the top 2.

Quote: Is the CCF among the five biggest coin forums in the World? Good question. Probably one which can't be answered, as specific traffic data is usually considered proprietary for advertising cost reasons. I would think "top 5" to be pretty a pretty sure bet. At any given time we have roughly as many active threads as any similar forum, to my calibrated eyeball.

I lurked unregistered for a few months before finally registering. I think some if it was just wanting to learn as much as I could before I started 'testing' if I had actually learned anything by posting my opinion.

I understand that some web crawlers create false positives on many sites, at least that used to be the case. This could account for many of the "lurkers".

Quote: I for one, have never thought about this until now. I am perfectly happy to post on the CCF exclusively. I don't even lurk elsewhere . Given that I also collect paper money, I did join another site that exclusively discussed paper money. After a few posts and little feedback from others, I cancelled and returned to CCF. CCF is the only site that I post/lurk to obtain info on all my numismatic interests.

We know who the bots are, and they don't affect the "Lurker" total significantly. Heck, Google is our most loyal member, measured by time on site.

I lurked here off and on for almost a year... before deciding to jump in with both feet...

I am a new member here and as you say I may lurk and not post that much until I read what others post for a while as too get an idea of what's going on and what or what not to bring up, as the ol' saying goes check to see how deep the water is before jumping in.

Some of us do post, just not much. I pop in and read a bit but don't really have much to add so I don't clutter up things.

I'm usually late to the conversation and have only a comment on my mind, which isn't really a reply is it? And then comes the startling concern that my fear of being a thread-killer is genuinely warranted.

The way I rationalize it is, I'm not a thread killer. I just....maintain interest longer than others.

I used to come here a ton and just read never signed up.
what got me to sign up was in the PM section, reading just on how wrong folks had it on the direction of say PMs, how wrong they were and clueless about where prices were going,, that I felt I would contribute that way.
I was amazed how uninformed, clueless, the amount of misinformation regarding PMs and how wrong the public is when it comes to how markets work and how prices work, thats what got me to sign up and contribute. lol

I lurked for a long time before joining, I just have to many sites/interest that take up what little net time I get, it's hard to focus on just one. As far as posting goes, I've never been a big poster. If someone ask a question, and I see that it's been given a good answer, I don't feel the need to re-post what others have already said. If I can contribute something meaningful I will, if not I keep quiet.

I suppose that I am a bit of an anomaly. I had found a coin that looked quite unusual and I was sure that it would make me rich, so I looked up "coin forums" on Google and found this site. It took me only about 5 minutes to post for the first time and the kind, thoughtful, educational responses I received got me hooked almost immediately. I found a lot of commonality with the folks in here and have been posting off and on ever since. Oh, and by the way, the coin that I originally posted about turned out to be a fake.
