Look guys... I cannot say another thing about this. It is obvious how I feel about the exclusion of these two services. I like their coins most of the time. If you don't then you don't. If you have never bought one of their coins. I suggest buying one just for the heck of it and study the difference. I cannot go on any more about this as it has brought me to the brink of giving up coins for a while and going back into autographs, (which by the way ebay is getting involved in as well with some sort of DNA testing, which is sending prices up.) So don't bother responding to me on this topic as I cannot read another post on this topic, but I will continue to read anything else but.

That's what rigoletto didn't seem to understand. There are quite a few people who wouldn't disagree with the phrase, 'TPGs are evil', even if some feel they are a necessary evil.

Halfabust is better than none is alleged to have written:

All slabs are for investors and speculators. It doesn't matter what some person tombing coins thinks of a coin, it is only what matters to me that is important.

For example:

You can look at 1200 dpi image here:

Nice attractive originally toned coin, not cleaned, tooled etc. Some circulation as is obvious. But you would not believe the ridiculous grade this got on the TPG holder it is tombed in.

Care to offer guesses?

Metalman is alleged to have offered the following expression:

This coin is exactly one of three slabbed(tombed coins) in my collection. By that measure and given the number of coins in my collection/hoard I have 99.9999% raw. I bought the coin here, not the slab.

One way to get around the restriction is to do one-day auctions. ebay takes two-three days to investigate. Here's an example for today. This is definitely an MS-65 Morgan.

You'll get away with the sale (maybe), but not the infraction. ebay will still kill the listing after it's over and put the mark on your record.

I'm not trying to resurrect this topic, but I ran across the linked ebay listing. Note how this seller responds to the new rules. It's obvious he/she didn't completely read/understand the rules. They interpreted that a numerical grade may not be used anywhere in the listing.

LOL, that guy is exactly the reason we needed these rules judging from his feedback.

Overgrades consistently.

And the plot thickens. Our favorite seller "ABONCOM" is passing off bulk lots of his slabbed "gems" to a liquidator. The liquidator is auctioning them off at least 5 at a time (with a plug for ABONCOM). Could this be the beginning of the end for this self-slabber?

This is in my opinion the beginning of searching for a loophole .

By passing them off to a liquidator all sales will become final at the point of purchase,, the buyer will have little or no recourse and the new policy makes the buyer resposnsible for the grade .

Here is the extent of the guarantee offered for these coins

With your Mint State Slabbed Coin, you will also receive an Official Certificate of Authenticity guaranteeing the authenticity of this coins and guarantees such for the full purchase price for the life of the coins.

I could not find anything further in the listing to cover the buyer in the event of mis representation .

If the seller makes no claims as to grade, then they bare no responsibility to the buyer as to quality .
