Congratulations on a great find. I recenty completed my Jeffeson nickel set from circulation, I took almost 7 years to do. The 50d was one of the first keys I found so I thought that it was going to be easy, I was wrong! It sure is nice though tohave the tough one under you belt. Good luck in your quest, have fun with it too!

newtothehunt,
My son and I have done a few hundred boxes and only found one 1950d and that was probably after 300 boxes.
Congradulations!

Congrats! I've searched 184,000 nickels now and have a complete set but I'm missing that one coin. That has to be a relief that you found it so early.

I have now searched 36000 nickles and the following is an update with rates of finds.
30s - 1 per 800 coins (all finds are 38 or 39, no 38s, 38d, 39s, 39d 40s - 1 per 163.6 coins (this excludes war silvers) 50s - 1 per 119.2 coins war silvers - 1 per 2571 coins buffalos - 1 per 5143 coins. But of the 7 found, 5 have no dates, 1 partial date 29 and 1 rough 34.
no liberty v's founds.
Of nicklesearchers 11 toughest nickles to find, I have 3... The 50d, 42p and 42s. - only 1 of each.
I now need 13 more nickels to complete the set (5 of which are war nickles), as most of the war nickles I have found are 43p (8 of the 14 found)....
The quest continues with 2 boxes on hand for the weekend.... Addicted to the hunt... lol

Great update ... Pleased to read that you are still with the CCF family and progressing well in your nickel searches. Thanks for the detailed rate statistics on your finds ... know that your find rates are comparable to mine at 322,800 nickels searched. You surely know by now that patience and perseverance are the key to completing this set from circulation rolls ... Your final '13' will eventually be reduced ... the thrill of the hunt in each roll bringing the next possibility. Stay true to the Quest ... we'll enjoy any future updates. David

I've been CRHing for over 10 years, pennies and nickels, and I've done boxes of nickels weekly for the past 3+ years and I still haven't found a 1950 D.
But I still have three 1950 D's that are MS63-MS65 in my collection :P
