I think the Kiwis changed their coinages last year to a smaller kind so what you have now is pretty much extinct in New Zealand.

I'm puzzled though, I'm not too sure why the 1972 5 cents is hard to find. I found the other years much harder. I'm actually not too sure what years weren't they released. Maybe I should really pick up a copy of Renniks soon. I have made a page here:

So there's no guide for NZ coins like Renniks or Maccas for Aus coins?

I'm sure if there are NZ coin books someone will soon let us know about it. Hey Bigfella, any that you know of? NZ did away with the 5¢ piece last year & changed the size of the 10¢, 20¢ & 50¢ coins.

gxseries, That's a pretty impressive page you've got there, a lot of work's gone into it & I'm quite envious of it.

There were only 8.2m Aussie 1972 5¢ minted and they're pretty hard to find in circulation now.

There is a NZ book. It's not as extensive as the Australian books but still has handy information. I purchased one because I was getting a lot of NZ coins in change and I didn't know which ones were worth keeping. I haven't had a change to have a good look through it as far as 5 and 10c pieces go through. I will get around to it and let everyone know if someone doesn't beat me to it.

b_j_w_79, If you don't mind sharing the info, Please advise what is the title of the book on NZ coins, the author's name, Publisher, where you got it & how much it was? I think there'll be a little rush on them, now we know they exist.

secretsquirrel: OOoohhAAhh, a 1985 missing tail feather. How did you happen across that one? Circulation or in a set? I'm green with envy!

Nancy, the name of that book is The New Zealand Coin & Banknote Catalogue by Howard Mitchell. The 2007 version is out now, I think it was around $15 but I'm not 100% sure. Not as good as the Australian books (probably not as much information to put in it) in my opinion but still very handy. I hope this helps!

Just in case ppl didnt know it existed, this may prove handy for some of you: http://www.ramint.gov.au/about_ram/...malCoins.pdf

PDF from the Mint stating the official minting numbers of all decimal coins... From what I can tell (Im into German Third Reich stuff; Australian coin is NOT my thing) it is for RELEASED mintings, not the mintings that were not released. I cant say off the top of my head what years this happened in; there are ppl here far better versed in Australian coin who probably can tho.

Now, does anyone know about a 1991 20 cent coin? I seem to be holding one!

Hi everybody. I have gone through a few 10c pieces, $1000 worth actually (5c is next). I have been removing 1972 and 1977 coins as well as the other 'usual' suspects. The usual suspects being 1985 (hard to find), 1991 and 1997. Are the 1972 and 1977 coins worth anything and/or worth keeping? I'd like your expert opinions.

I haven't had a look for the missing feathers yet but I will starting from the next batch I look at.

There is nothing special about 1977 10c pieces at all unless they are missing the feather. 1972 also arent special at all unless they are very high grade.

Thanks secretsquirrel. Do the missing feathers often get sold on ebay etc? If so how much are they worth? Value isn't everything by the way I am just wondering. I will have to try and find a full set now that I know the 'missing feather' 10c pieces exist. More work!

They dont get sold on there, we have kind of kept it to our forum group until now to stop all the listings that you often see when new things are made public.
I might do a listing to just see what happens.
