It was part of last years coin and currency set. Everyone thought that it was just another late year fill in by the mint, a native american coin and a 2013 series one dollar bill. Then as people ordered it , they realized the mint snuck in an enhanced uncirculated NA dollar instead of a regular business strike. The only EU Native American dollar, Only the third EU coin ever and only 50,000 minted, makes this a very hot coin right now.

I missed that one altogether. I guess this is like the 1994 and 1997 Jeffs issued as part of the special coin and currency sets.
Thanks.
I'll need to add that to my "complete" collection.

Wait.
If it's an enhanced uncirculated coin does that mean position A and B?
Goodness sakes, what have I gotten myself into?

There are A & B versions of this coin. I kept 1 of each just in case.

Quote: I don't really care for the Presidents but I do like the Native American dollars. I think the designs are the best of all current US coins. I agree with you on the NA designs. They are interesting in their variety and so far have been well-executed. My daughter, who is 10 years old, loves the "Sac and her baby" obverse, and she and I both like the "three sisters" reverse, because it's so important to the development of native culture and the survival of early settlers in America. She also likes the 'doggie' reverse I remain a fan of the prez dollars, too. Some of the portraits are weird, though, and even though the Statue of Liberty on the back is OK, I don;t care for the reverse; I wish they had used the original Sac dollar reverse with the flying eagle.... that was cool.

I cannot see the edge lettering when the coin is in a Dansco, so I do not care about A/B. To be honest, I do not really care about P/D since the mint mark was moved to the edge. If the reverse did not change every year, I would have just one and call it complete.

I wanted to collect Native Americans, but my wife said, "no", "I can't handle one, why would I want more?".

with jbuck, sort of. I do care about MM and year, but it's impossible to tell/verify without pulling out of your album. While I *DO* like the edge incusing, it's so darn hard to read even with magnification sometimes that it's kind of useless. Would have been better to band the edge with stars or something simple. I have a Whitman that I've started for the NA dollars (circulated). The only way I've been able to fill them is by asking for whatever "golden" dollars the teller has when I'm at the bank so it is indeed a tougher-than-you'd-think set unless you buy from ebay or buy annual sets from the mint to populate an album. with NJ Bob - fantastic designs on the Native American dollars.

The Native American dollar designs are my favorite of the current designs. And I like that it changes once per year. That is enough. I don't mind edge lettering in general, but since they are so hard to read, I don't collect separate A and B examples. I just wish the mint would PLEASE put the date and mintmark back on the obverse where it was perfectly fine up until 2008.

I am only collecting the proofs since finding them in circulation is impossible. I only buy proof sets. I do not buy mint sets. That will change if and when the cent and nickel go NIFC.

Hi all. Just found this thread. Good thoughts here about the Sacagawea dollars. In general, I really like them a lot. Totally bummed they don't circulate. I also really really hate the edge incusing. I agree 100% with you perfessor about date and mint mark needing to be on the obverse. Our mint makes some really bad decisions and this has got to be one of the worst! There is plenty of room, the obverse is the same as it was pre-2009! I see no reason for moving the date/mintmark to the edge. I really don't think edge incusing really works too well on these coins anyway. For that to be a real success, I think you need a thicker coin and a more pronounced incusing (if that is a word). For these, it is so tiny, kind of ridiculous. My other really big issue is that these aren't included in the sliver proof sets as silver coins! That would really be cool. I also really love the pre-2009 reverse. So for folks that are asking for these at banks, do you find many?
