I agree. If we end up sticking with the Commonwealth, The design should be changed soon. If we do not stay though, the Canadian coat of arms, a bear, beaver, goose or moose should replace the monarch's portrait.

I say we go back to the 53 portrait, or the 1935 $20 bill one :)

Personally for 2017.. I hope they do something that blends the portrait of the 1935 pic of the queen with a current picture of the queen... that would certainly be impressive to me... in my opinion.

I really like the 53-64 portrait the best. I don't really care much for the current portrait.

I'll gladly take anything over the current horrific effigy Canada uses. Ugh. It's just embarrassing, and I refuse to buy any coins bearing it.

It would be great to see another crowned portrait, as it stands out as someone royal. I'm not a fan of uncrowned portraits, especially of the queens father. It is my least favorite portrait on our coins. I'm a fan of the veiled and jubilee portraits of Queen Victoria. A royal portrait should look royal. It would be nice if they'd use one from her youth, so the one from the 2012 5 oz coin. the young portrait on the 2012 $20 4 $20 would also do well.
I'm not looking forward to a king Charles on coins, there's no way of making him look good!

Trudeau: "we're perfectly happy with our Queen of Canada". http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/c...1/story.htmlI don't "we" were ever asked and if we were I doubt that "we're perfectly happy". The fact is the issue is just never raised. But considering it's well known we're "not perfectly happy" with the Senate which is part and parcel of the Queen being head of state, I don't know how he can say that. OT it is indeed the indication of rule of socialism when the word plebiscite or referendum is virtually unheard of in this country. Instead we vote for leaders based on their unlimited ability to spatter out various election promises and targeted financial incentives which have been deliberately created for one reason only, that's with the specific intent of enticing different cross-sectors of the electorate so that in total they win and thus are granted unlimited power. (rant over!)

The present Queen is wonderful, I hope when she decides to retire, they will instantly jump to Prince William

Kind of dread the looks of Charles on our coins.
