It looks like I picked up the same coin as you

Being new to ancients I automatically checked the known fakes list and this type isn't on it which makes me feel better but it isn't as well struck as the OP's coin.
Any thoughts on it ?

The silver coins of the Severan Dynasty seem to be relatively easy to obtain in nice grades. Nevertheless this coin is much nicer than almost all others of it's genre.

Evidence of a debris filled die on the reverse, otherwise a nice sharp central strike. Radial metal flow lines quite evident.

Very beautiful style with a strong bold portrait. You get the added bonus of BRIT on both Obv. and Rv. !

Now you need to find a Hadrian, Antoninus Pius, Commodus and Septimius ! It seems that there was always trouble brewing with the 'wild men' in the North every 20 years or so. It was either a preemptive Roman policy or the fact that the women and children were able to escape and renew the conflict once every generation.

Hadrian and Antoninus Pius coins which reference Britannia can be very pricey ! Probably due to their construction activities on the frontier.

Thanks for the comments! It's my first silver Roman coin. I am loving the challenge of finding choice Ancients for my Roman Britain set. I may have to make exceptions for Hadrian and Antoninus Pius though. I should be able to find Commodus and Septimus with some hunting. Meanwhile, I have been picking up AE Follis from the London mint, and have some nice ones I should post (I'll do that in a separate thread). Thanks again.

You can always 'fluff' a bit for Antoninus Pius. One of the primary reasons that he was remembered as Mr Niceguy is that during his twenty year reign there was little going on as far as warfare was concerned.
With the exception of Britain !
Any coin of AP's that reference a military theme on the reverse or even the simple IMPERATOR II reverse almost certainly pertains to Britain and those wild men of the north. Failing that a Britannia dejected reverse shouldn't be too outrageous ......
Unless of course you insist on having an XF !

I will probably make exceptions as to the grade/condition if I can find a Britannia reverse that I like. That type is definitely on my list. I'll keep in mind your suggestion about any AP's that have IMPERATOR, sounds like something to keep me busy while searching for a Britannia.

Ya think ! One of the problems we find is that these coin types are a primitive form of Viagra in the UK ! I seriously doubt that anyone would pay that much ....... but when passion over rules reason.

Anything is possible

I sent you an interesting listing last night. No response with less than 8 hrs left !

I do not wish to get in your way ......
But I won't sit back and watch them get 'scooped' for 1/2 price unless I have a good reason !

I'm sure I wouldn't pay 120 pound based on those low quality pictures..
