Those are pretty nice coins! Kind of defeats the fun of finding them all, but this is convenient. I would buy this if I had the money and not the time. Then maybe you can upgrade some of the coins.

They all look nice.
Just a quick glance at them, and it appears the lowest grade is around F/VF.

Personally, I think it would be more enjoyable to build it yourself, but to each his own.

Without a doubt, I would much rather put a set together myself.

Might be worth it. Some of those coins get pricey in the grades they appear to be in but without better pictures it would be a huge gamble. This set has been on ebay for quite some time so a lot of savvy collectors have already passed.

I agree with the above thoughts that buying a complete set takes the fun out of assembling a well matched set yourself.

I would love to have an instant collection like that, if I had the money. Do you all think it is priced right? Could you put a comparable 7070 together for what he is asking?

I think I need to start putting a set together, gradually. They sure look beautiful all together.

IMHO...the price is right. I know what I have spent so far and to put together a NICE 7070 it's definitely up in the thousands. And I have a LONG way to go.

So for someone with more money than time this would be a good set. There are two or three coins I might upgrade if the set were mine but all in all it's a respectable mid range set.

Interesting. I assume that there are people who collect collections.

I must say I have enjoyed building mine, now 22 years in and only seven holes left to fill.

I have been putting a set together for a while now. All grade vf25 on up to proof 3 coins togo. I wouldnt take $5900.00 for mine. But then again I wouldn't sell any coins.lol

I think that the people listing and buying these aren't really coin collectors. Yes, they are really convenient and they are "Easy one shot collecting" as I have seen them called by people trying to sell them. I personally think that you are a collector if you pick out each individual coin yourself. It is also more fun and more satisfying to know that you have one less hole to fill (IMO). I think that sets like these are meant for investors who will buy the set now and wait until the value of the set goes up and then they will try to sell it and make money on it. There's nothing wrong about buying these sets, it's just that buying them is not really something I would expect a true collector to do.

That I don't know, but looks to have some wiggle room with the BEST OFFER.

Wow jbuck. Can we have a preview or post on a different op?
Usc69, the key is to learn about them before you buy them.
Your decision.

I was really thinking of buying this myself, but I chose not to. I do not like the look of some of the coins or I would reach a little bit more to get a better coin. All in all, I am getting the spreadsheet ready, researching, and starting the coin list, grade, and estimated price ready to start assembling one (which will take about 3 months). I am going to collect them in all PCGS slabs if I can.

Also, for those that collect these type sets, do you have separate coins from other sets you collect? For example, do you have 2 American Silver Eagles if you collect a type set and a Silver Eagle set?

I started a 7070 in XF/AU and had most of the silver coins minus one of the two Seated dollars and the bust quarter, all of the post 1900 coins and all that was really left to acquire was a Shield nickel and all but two of the half and large cents and I had well over $4,000 in the album. With what holes needed filling I estimated in XF/AU condition it would total over $10,000 when completed WITHOUT the gold page.

A member of the local coin club brought his to a meeting to show off an upgrade he just bought for it. All of the post 1900 types and more than 75% of the pre 1900 coins in album was uncirculated. What was not mints state was at least XF45.
