AU50-53 .... What's up with the obverse rim between 9 and 12 o'clock?

Was thinking lower AU on that one with the luster netting for the brown stuff maybe.

I would go MS-63.
The only things I see from it going higher is it lacks luster and the discoloration on the obverse. The plus side is it has very few (and minute) bagmarks or ticks.
Good looking coin!

I'll say MS-61. I don't like that obv. rim at 9-12. the brown marks adds to the lower grade. the fact that it was stored in an envelope probably contributes to the lack of mint luster.

This one hasn't circulated. Look at the cheek. It's not close.
Don't like that upper left obverse rim, though. Looks like it took a scrape against something. If it's just color, only the scratch in front of the nose keeps it from 64.
I see some green spots. This one needs an acetone bath.

There is an envelope with the coin, but it hasn't been stored in the envelope, as least not for the last 25 years or so. Here's the package, with grade on there of MS 60: Quote: This one needs an acetone bath. Thanks for the advice...I'll look into doing that soon and post "after" pics. Hopefully it will clean up really nice.

Grading is so crazy. Here we have opinions from AU50 - MS63 thats a HUGE range.
I love it, great looking, and it would look great in my 1911 collection :)

If graded MS 60 at least 25 yrs ago the grade is irrelevant in the context of contemporary standards
