Excellent! I'm still working on my first CRH Jefferson set. Of the pre-1960s I'm short 6 coins: 38S 38D 42D 43D 45S 52S

Nice David - I found two 1950s in the past couple of weeks. Each time I went to flip...I said a little prayer to the coin gods. Nada! But the momentary excitement is still a rush. Did you see the date or the MM first?

nice find! It was 111 boxes since your last 50d. Seems to be in quality shape for a collection too! Congrats!

LOL Rackster ... I was thinking about offering the same commentary on the 'heart beat rush' of holding another 1950 Jefferson in hand ... the anticipation of the flip to the reverse. This coin was found obverse up ... and I quietly set it aside on my desk blotter while I searched through the remaining coins in my 'typical' 10 roll search. I kept staring at it while searching through the rolls ... distracted and excited about the possibility. Finally it was time ... picked up the 1950 Jefferson ... closed my eyes and turned it over ... open eyes ... SCORE! Such is the great joy of roll-hunting. David

I did the same thing when I found my 1909 VDB. I kept looking over at it sitting on sorting page. Great story - I can picture and feel the excitement!

In my lifetime I've searched (if I had to estimate) a good million or so nickels, and haven't found a single 1950 D coin roll hunting.

What an incredible find. I too got into collecting nickels and have found 2-1950 nickels in about 60 boxes or so, unfortunately, they were not 1950 D's. Do you save your coins or sell them on ebay?

In the last 10 years I have only found two 50D and two 39D nickels and I go through 40 to 60 rolls a week .I've found its easier to buy the key coins .I probably have 150 rolls 38-61 of nice nickels in the safe, but when it comes to the 38DS 39DS 50D 51S I just go to the coin shop and buy them.A few years back I use to find nice nickels but lately things have slowed down.I have two complete AU Dansco 7113 albums and 10 Whitman folders complete VF-EF.

Congrats on the find.
That is the last one I need to find in a box for my album.
