Nice people to talk to at a coin show if you run into them.

He typically runs "sales" where a coin will be reduced by 5% in price and I have seen as much as 7% off. So, if a fixed priced coin has a "make an offer" you will probably be able to get it for at least 5% off the listed price. He wants to sell coins and any reasonable offer will most likely be accepted.
I have bought a couple of coins from him also and have been very satisfied with them.

Google "Tales from the Bourse" by David Lawrence - it is a nice read. The text is online but a few years ago I found a nice printed copy for my library.

I have made a few purchases myself. I also sent in a few for them to look at for purchase...totally ridiculous offer, varieties were not considered in their offer.

I bought this coin from David Lawrence back in December. It was originally listed for $1200, which I thought was a little high, but I snapped it up when he reduced the price to $1,062.50. Great coin, great service and no complaints whatsoever from me. I'm still not sure, however, where he came up with the number $1,062.50. It's, what, 11.46% off the original price?

How do their pictures compare with the actual coins? I see many of their pictures make the coins look dull and lusterless. What is stranger is that the key coins and higher end ones look to be photographed better showing more luster and the cartwheel. Is this the coins or just how they are taking the pictures?

Quote: How do their pictures compare with the actual coins? Well, with a statistical sample of only the one coin I bought from them, I'd say pretty darn good. Compare the photos in the link I provided above with the following ones I took of the coin: If anything, I'd say they are much better at photographing proof coins than I am.

I have found that to be true of dealers who do not specialize in a particular series. Many of them even do it. They pay non variety prices and then sell the coin priced at what the market will bear for that variety. It is not right but that is what they do.

I highly recommend this seller. You won't steal a coin from them but you will get a quality coin reasonably priced. I've bought several coins from them and am happy with my purchases.

They use a scanner on all coins priced under $5,000. They will do an image for you with a camera upon request.

Wow barryg, that Barber has very " liquidy" surfaces, especially the reverse!

DL is known for their Barber coins, which they are experts in. They handle all levels from low grade worn through 1913 Proof Liberty nickels. I've been dealing with them for years back when David "Larry" was still alive, his son John now runs the company and is quite capable. Their website is being changed this week and should be up within days, looking forward to seeing how it's different.

Never ever had a problem with them. A little high sometimes but you can do well with the right sale. Usually they will have a coin that the others don't have. I'm talking about Commemoratives in my case.

I made my first purchase from DL last December, when they were blowing out common AU58 $10 Indian slabs for $706 BIN. Being able to compare a dozen, I picked the one which had the fullest strike and least objectionable nicks. I preferred choosing among the photos to having APMEX send one unseen.
