I'm having a hard time reading the reverse legend. Are you able to read it?

The reverse legend doesn't make any sense to me Echizent,
AT( lower case b ? )IVIIq ( looks like a backwards P )
ATbIVIIq, I know that wont make any sense.
Victory also has a palm in right and wreath in left which is the opposite of normal and the captive is on the wrong side, there isn't two captives.
All of the constantius II coins are the mirror image if you get what I mean. wreath right, branch left & single captive the other side.
Its had me confused for a while now.

It seems like a mish mash put together badly as far as the reverse goes and the obverse is crude at best.
I don't like to cast aspersions especially when its my coin but something seems wrong here
Maybe you can understand why I went for a mule type, I couldn't come up with anything better.

That is a very odd portrait of Constantius II , I know this may be wrong but it looks more like his father Constantine than it does him . Could it be an imitation issue ?

I am thinking Constantine or an imitative of him due to the Laurel wreath. Perhaps an imitative of this http://www.tesorillo.com/aes/001/001i.htm

Hi AM,
I said to Echizento that the reverse appears a mirror image of what it should be, I suppose we are left with Mule or Imitation ?
It certainly is a head scratcher

It totally looks like a comtemporary imitative to me. No doubt about it in my opinion.

That would explain the odd looking bust and legend.

A bit messy but the obverse legend reads CONSTANTINVS AVG so for sure its daddy, and clearly his portrait as well.

The reverse is the mirror image of the SARMATIA DEVICTA type. A bit messy as well but you can see DEVICTA spelled out backwards (VICTA is fairly clear, the DE is a bit shoddy)

Good call A.M.

There are so many of those guys that I confess to not paying the portrait much attention and going straight for the legend.

Very nice example of a contemporary forgery. Not seen one like this (and its reversed to boot). I guess its the work of two people - the obverse die being engraved correctly. Looks like it was cleaned using acid - Id recommend a bit of proactive maintenance. Wash the surfaces with acetone (remove any gunk) and then treat it as though it has bronze disease.

Good morning all
Wow, thanks to all of you for your efforts.
AM,Echizento,Biancasdad,Ben,VK.
Thanks Ben for clearing the reverse legend problems, I thought it looked like a mirror image but obviously wasn't sure.
I will crack on with treating it Ben, thanks for the advice
Augustus Maximus, kudos to you my friend. good call.
Makes you wonder if they knew they had struck it wrong and just thought " sod it " it will do.
Interesting coin.
