I think the seller would be "Over The Moon" with $800 for what he would have considered "Junk Silver" that he was probably expecting $50 for tops.
Kudos to the buyer because this could easily have been a set up with a fake coin added to this bunch .

There was definitely risk involved, which is probably why the lot didn't sell for more
... I was half expecting there to be a 1906 large crown instead...
then it would have been a big hassle to fight with ebay for return/refund...

I guess here is where I would respectfully disagree. If a person attempts a major cherry pick (in this case a small crown) and, when the coin arrives, it turns out he got it wrong (a large crown arrives), then I think a return is out of line. If you intend on keeping the windfall brought about by your knowledge of varieties, you should be prepared to eat the loss when you get it wrong. Just my opinion.

I will edit this to say, if the seller switched coins from the one in the picture (a bait and switch), then I think a return would be okay. If the coin in the picture arrives, and turns out to be a large crown, then I do not think a return is in order.

You can't have it both ways, The seller didn't say it was a small crown That was your call and you bid accordingly.
If you made a bad call on this then there is NO way you could go for a Item not as described case

I agree with the two last messages. As it happened to me. I didn't get what I was half hoping half saw. But clearly it was the same coins. I just did not win it for the price I should have won it. But it was my mistake.

I was only talking about a bait and switch...meaning if a different coin arrived, than pictured.

That being said, every ebay seller should have a "no questions" asked return policy within a certain time frame. I do.

I get it for the bait switch. Clearly return should be allowed then.

I disagree for the return because I do describe if needed the coins but most of the time for problem free coins I just take very very high resolution pictures, thus you see very clearly what you buy. All the coins I sell to people make them happy because they bought it when the resolution was so high that they saw all the possible scratches / defects and were able to judge the grade by themselves. Also many said, the coin looks better in hand.
In the case someone does like me and is utterly honest in the description, there are absolutly no reason for a return. if the coin is slightly rotated, I say it, same goes for bent of things you couldn't see on a picture. Thus I don't accept return.

Fantastic coin, one of the most problem free SC's I can remember ever seeing. Contacting the seller after the auction is a classless act of complete jealousy, nothing more. It's the kind of score we all dream about, so it's sort of hypocritical to cry foul when someone else does it instead of you. Congrats CV!
