This morning at the flea market, I found a coin dealer with 4- BU 1957 Rev B quarters and 3- 1959 BU Rev B quarters. He sold me the 7 coins for $10.00 (all 7). I sell him cheap coins regularly, so he threw me a deal.

Congrats Harvey and Acidic! That's wonderful news!

Roach, unsure on the prices still, there's a lot of flux right now as people are now starting to go back and find them. Assume around $10 for the 1963. It's one of the more common ones. The CherryPicker's has a few up in the $150 range, but I'd be rich if that was true.

I did some research of my own and came up with this great site for error and varieties for US coins http://overdate1.tripod.com/coinvar...s/index.html
if you go to this site it tells you that there were 3 types of wash quarters
1956 thru 1964 there was Type A weak leaves on reverse and Type B strong leaves
They have been assigned Breen# 4375 thru 4414
The type C exists on both the 1964P(Breen#4412) and 1964D(Breen 4415,FS-024.7)
Type C reverse occurred as these coins transitioned to the new 1965 reverse(some of the 1964's got the reverse of the new clad coins)Type C rev is the most rare! Type C reverse have bold tail feathers with strong vein running thru them.

You are so right Joe. The prices are wayyyy over priced for these varieties. I find them regularly on ebay as just standard quarters.

I'll put out my samples tonight and post them. 1957 and 1963 is my most prevalent.

I finally found some pricing information!

        56 57 58 59 60 61 62 63 64 64-D
AU-50 30 6 15 5 12 25 10 13 75
MS-60 40 7 6 16 60 35 20 125
MS-65 100 10 10 175 120 95 450

The only one I find to be totally off is the 1963. I have found plenty of fine examples quite easily.

Has anyone seen a 1964P Rev C? Never seen one for sale and I haven't tried looking for it. If it does exist, I'll pull out my bag of circ quarters and go through them again. Here's a nice picture of a BU 1964D Rev C I found a few weeks ago. Notice the lines splitting the tail feathers.

Anyone have any nice circ 1956 Rev B for sale?
I can use 2 or 3

Harvey

I've got several of each of the Rev B. I'll check my population of 1956. I'm just up 95 from you in Jupiter.

I'm green with envy on your C! Beautiful coin.

Well, I'm short in the 1956 category, but here's the rest of my population. I hope this helps other with rarity.

Coop, did you notice the "leaf" in the background, is the same as the one on the left photo, (at the arrow points), except that it appears to have been abraided extensively? The faint image is there, and the two look alike, given this consideration. Is that what you arre referring to, in the case of the proof die reverses?

Proof die reverses always have a space between the E and S in States at the top of the rev of quarters from 1956-thru 1964. Some of the circulating coins for this period got proof die reverses(ie:Type B rev). And apparently in 1964, they changed the rev die for the proofs(bold lined tail feathers) and some of the circulating coins got proof die reverses(ie:Type C rev)...so far only population known from the Denver mint.

I went through my silver quarter stash again and found 2 more Type B 1962 coins in XF/AU-ish condition. That makes a total of 4 (all 1962) from maybe 8 rolls of assorted circulated silver Washingtons that I had accumulated. According to Vaslin's price list, $10 worth of my generic silver just became $100 worth of exotic variety coins! Pretty cool.
