Now sometimes you have to order boxes of Halves or other things. Sometimes tellers have no idea what you are talkin about so just ask the head teller and they can help ya out. I'd recommend having 2 banks ya work with. One to withdraw halves from and one to deposit to. I tie my PayPal account to both and once the $1000 is deposited I dump it into my other bank. Ain't a a stinker?

How would I go about returning the havles? And would you recommend making books out of the Kennedy's 1964-present? I really don't know all too much all I know is I cant loose money if I'm just paying face!

easiest way I find for sorting halves is keep the box. Open a roll. Sort it. if you find silver then take out the silver and put a non-silver half in it's place. reroll it in wraps that you can get from the bank. put it back in the box. if you do this one at a time it's a LOT easier then making a big pile in the floor. (not that I have done that with 2000 halves ) check first to see if you need to write your account number on the rolls. Some banks say yes....mine doesn't thankfully. It's much easier to write when they ain't rolled. Or better yet buy a stamp. if you have any silver you have several options. Take it to a coin show and get up to 95% of spot value. sell em on ebay. or stick around a bit and once you can buy/sell/trade you can offer it for sale to the members. 1964 and earlier is 90% silver so about $5.00 a coin 1965-1970 is 40% silver so about $2.00 a coin There are proofs you can find but they are a bit rarer. There are a few ways to search em. You can squint and look at every single date, just simple look at them for that distinct whitish tone, or one method I use when I don't have as much time is to drop them on each other. Silver has a different ring then the copper/nickel.

I've yet to order a box of halves. However, when I have asked for rolls, I have averaged 1 silver per roll and have found 2 proof halves and 1 Liberty Walking half in very circulated condition. The season is coming for roll searching.

Last time I sorted my brother in law and dad helped me with a box. I sorted twice as fast as them but sadly they BOTH found twice as much silver in their rolls as mine! Still got to keep it all since it was my money

My go to buy at my bank just orders 2 boxes when I ask him since I have a good relationship with the bank. It takes a couple days and he calls me when they are in.
To my knowledge No bank will have em in stock since it's kinda like a grocery store stocking a product that no one will buy. It has to be special ordered. That's why I recommend having a good relationship with 2 banks. One to take from...one to give to

How can you have a "good relationship" with the bank that's going to take your coins, since NONE of the banks really want to have any of the coins (halves)? I live in the Bay Area of California and there are plenty of banks around, but I am curious on how to build a relationship with a bank that is willing to accept all my searched coins....

The only answer is to put yourself in the place of the person ordering the coins. It's not about the bank, it's about the person that can order the coins for you. It may be extra work for them but if you get to know them it can become a pleasure for them to do business with you.

I don't have problem getting the coin to search for. What I was asking is: How to build a good relation with the bank so that they will accept your searched coins (ie: after searching the rolls, I want to return/deposit it to my bank account)?

You have to take it to another bank. Open an account with a totally different bank, not just another branch. I've never met a bank that didn't want your money.

Man, I would love to pick up 20-45 silvers per box. lately my boxes have not had much in them at all. I've started driving around finding banks with rolls. I would recommend you find a bank that has a coin counter and open up an account there. I used to reroll mine and take them to my second bank. I tried to deposit them in wife's bank (a third bank) and they said "We only take deposits of loose coins!" They made me unroll all of them before they would take them and put them through their machine. No problem for me, now I don't even have to roll them. It takes longer because their machine only holds up to $200 of halves, then they have to empty the container, but it doesn't bother me to sit and wait.

I hand my bank a $500 box of rolled halves with no account number on them and a deposit slip and I walk out....simply beautiful!
