Are there better deals to had later in the day? Just wondering if sellers are more open to bargain before the show closes?

Went to the show on Saturday . Got a kick out of of some of the dealers there. The way some of the inventory is stored /looked after. Guy has a coin graded by ICCS 1 0z silver SP67 real nice coin in its day and worth a good chunk of cash, but the way it had been looked after, the coin had worked its way out of the flip rubbing up against other coins getting all chewed up and scratched. No where near SP67 anymore, must be nice to have that much money not to care how you look after your inventory. But still want top dollar. Just something I noticed.

Went about 11 AM with my adult son and stayed about 90 minutes. My son was happy filling in some spots in his cent, nickel, dime, quarter albums - mostly from the 1920s to 1950s.
I was very happy to finish off my silver dollar set by purchasing a PCGS graded 1948 AU55. I have been tracking that year on ebay the last couple of years. Maybe could have saved a percent or two on ebay from what I paid but it was worth it to see the coin in hand.
The weather was nice and hot in Calgary Saturday and I thought it might be quiet there but it seemeed as busy as the spring one and the spring one before that. Maybe a dealer could comment as a 90 minute visit does not document the whole two days.

There was a dealer I saw with some nice paper money, but all laying in a pile under a locked case. And he also had graded coins displayed in a mess, leaving tons of empty space. Quite sad to have merchandise displayed in a fashion that nobody can even see it.

It was still fun to look around, since I had no plans on buying anything.

I was there with a table. It was my first time I had attended a show in Calgary. It was well run and the turnout was pretty good. Saturday was quite busy, Sunday was pretty quiet. I'll probably be back again for future shows :)

I attended the spring and the fall shows;
I went to the spring show on saturday, then wnet back sunday - but to my disappointment some vendors seemed to shut up shop REALLY early on sunday...

I remembered about the fall show, just by chance on the sunday of the exact weekend;
I went and was debating on checking it out - in all it was still a nice show, but I felt jipped having to pay the full admission, and about half of the tables were vacated (roughly 12pm) when I entered the room.

Is there any way the club can insist that vendors stick around?

Also, is anyone here a part of the Calgary Numanistic Society?
I tried emailing them this past monday, and haven't heard anything;
They show two distinctly different locations for the October meeting;
1) Woodcreek Community Centre (1991 Woddview Dr SW) is shown on the events calender
2) Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association (1320 5th Ave NW) is shown on the monthly meetings page.

That site is in dire need of maintenance/updating.
(If no one replies to this, I'll go ahead and make a new thread asking it)

unruhjonny The CNS moved their monthly meetings from Woodcreek to Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association, 1320 -5 Avenue NW. First meeting at the new venue was September 22. Next meeting is Tuesday October 27 at 7:30. Couldn't agree with you more about the need to update the website. Hope to see you at the next meeting. They have a bus going up to the Edmonton Coin Show Saturday November 7. Come join us.

Thanks for the reply!
I've actually been meaning to check out the group for a couple years now - I'll do my best to try to make it to this coming meeting.

@unruhjonny I kept meaning to check out the CNS long before I joined too. Only been a member for a year myself. Lots of knowledge and expertise from the rest of the members. They've been interested in numismatics for a very long time. Very welcoming group. I will look for you at the next meeting Jonathan. Usually there around 7. Hope you can make it. They are looking for new members.

@discovery Can non-members hitch a ride on the bus to the Edmonton coin show as well? Would you mind how much the fare is? Thanks!

@calgaryhorse trip to Edmonton is free but you must be a member to ride. They are also stopping at the Royal Alberta Museum. Though you could just stay at the coin show all day if you'd rather as they are dropping off their first. There are only 36 seats available on the bus. Don't know how many seats are vacant. Leaves 7 am returns around 8:30 pm.

@ Discovery;
Thank you very much for coming up to me to say "hello";
I was wondering if you could email me (I just tried to email you, but it appears as though you've disabled this feature) - I would appreciate your assistance in getting in contact with a CNS member.

@ calgaryhorse;
Discovery pointed you out to me, but you were busy looking at the error bills... Then I was preoccupied looking at the tokens ect.

@unruhjonny I have enabled my email. Not sure if I will be any help as I don't have personal contact info for members. Glad to have met you at meeting last night.
