I would like a graded coin just for giggles but I mostly collect raw junk silver since it's all I can afford to fill my albums.

Most everything I have is raw. Ancient and Medieval coins don't come in mint packaging. With my modern world coins I usually specially purchase ones without packaging because I feel guilty throwing it away (I know some people like it so I don't want to ruin something for future collectors). My ATB silver proof are in mint packaging and I will probably keep them there. I only have thee graded coins. One I specifically bought graded because it was rarer. The other two were happenstance, cheaper graded at the time than not graded. I'll probably get some of the more rare coins graded in the future, but my plan doesn't isn't too have a lot of them.

I have tons of raw in albums and it's predominately my collection although I do have thoughts of putting together a PCGS type set but who knows if I will. I've got a few started on it but that's not a pressing numismatic goal of mine.

Mostly raw, like around 95%. The slabbed coins I have are some rare dates and I have 3 older mint sets.

Always raw for American coins, VG to MS65 in all metals.

Remembering that this thread is listed under 'U.S. Modern coins', so it is safe to assume that most respondents are U.S. based. 47 votes from all countries recorded at the time of my latest edit.

The poll surprises me.
I would have thought that most American collectors would have at least one or two slabs. The largest category represented in this poll so far shows that almost half of American collectors have no slabs at all !

Whoops. I voted graded although I have no graded coins. I doubt I even have one that would be above 30 anyway.

Is it considered OGP if they are packaged by the GSA 80-90 years later?

Maybe the question should be what percentage do you own of each?
What % is raw, graded, OGP, etc........

BadToTheBone - thanks for adding the last option.

I voted -- and I see that I am not alone.

I don't seek out slabbed coins very often -- just once, I think -- but a lot of coins are already slabbed.

Teach that could have been a possibility but I didn't want to complicate things too much ipso facto in my case I voted slabbed and OGP(mint issues) but in actuality my collection consists of 98% slabbed and 2% OGP. If I would have done so I believe it would have been way too many choices. I'm very pleased by the response thus far and very surprised because no one as of yet has choosen the Mint Issues alone and I thought that more people would have choose slabbed in any combination. Very Interesting for sure.

I voted 'Raw or graded,' and the few coins that I seek are elusive.
But I always buy the coin and not the plastic.
Those purchases are less and less frequent as these coins do not frequently appear on the market.

Amazing to see that only 5% have chosen graded only and not a single person collects mint issue only (OGP). Thus far Raw seems to be the choice. I wonder if that will ever change. I think probably not.

I put raw and US mint packaged. That is the way I buy 95% of my coins. (I have purchased graded coins but I usually only do that for something that is faked often like a Trade dollar or something like that)
