Rob, with all the work you've put in chasing your little treasures you will undoubtedly end up with the the very best of at least some of them. There can be very few surprises like the Langdon hoard left! By the way, remember my story of seeing a mint state 9/inverted 9 in a Capital Plastics holder in the mid-70s? Yours looks very much like that coin. I thought at the time that it must be the finest in existence. In any case we applaud your efforts and sincerely appreciate the opportunity to see the results of your quest!

I did remember your story of the mint state example, but one thing bothers me. If this is that example, once identified and having been celebrated by being placed in a Capital holder, why did it end up banished to a lowly PCGS narrow 9 holder?

SPP - Yes these three pushed me ahead of my friend Willamette, for the time being. I think the "with varieties" Vicky registry has a ways to go to be fully sorted out.

BTW, check out Willamette's Vicky basic set. Amazing.

Rob, you make a good point. It's hard to imagine, though, that there are two of them that nice! It's easier for me to think that the coin was taken out of the Capital holder and fell into the hands of someone who didn't realize what they had. Stranger things have happened.

I saw that for both the Victorian and the entire large cent series Randy, but with 0.00 for weight:

Their 'note' was interesting:

PCGS has really missed the boat on the 1881 repunched N.... there are many many of them and not real scarce. There's no way that the coin should get a bonus like that!

That 1881 at a 6 has got to be a typo-O for sure..

...or does anyone here quickly need a super rare TP "N"..?
