Quote: Spend them. Completely worth the strange look you get on the cashier's face. Same thoughts. Spending those and Half Dollars are just fun.

Quote: Spend them. Completely worth the strange look you get on the cashier's face. +1 Absolutely! Most cashiers won't have a clue what they are because they've never seen one. They won't be as much fun as SBA's (due to being so close in size to the quarter), but it will still be fun.

With 300+, I think that it will take some time and dedication to buy stuff with them. I would be more inclined to ebay them in batches with a'buy it now' that just manages to cover face and shipping. No profit, but at least you will recover your costs of acquisition. Are the banks forced to accept them in any quantity, if tendered over the counter? That would be the easiest way to get rid of them. That would be one way to make banks afraid of CRH'ers !

1. Didn't Washington try to throw a Silver Dollar across a River? You could try to get some fame by calling the news agencies and tell them your going to go to a river and throw some across. 2. Save them until Halloween. Then pass them out instead of candy. 3. have a giveaway right here on this forum for everyone. 4. Find something that is priced as $300.00 and pay for it with those.

I will gladly pay face plus postage for all 1972 dated pieces in this batch. As I said, I have a use for them. They usually cost me between $1.10 and $1.25 each from local dealers (when I'm not so lucky as to get Ikes at face from the bank).

i'd spend them, they will peak interest of those you give them to, may even get a few new hobbyists out of it! Someone did that with a bunch of SBA abt 2 yrs ago and I ended up with a few s mints!

It's true, jbuck, I have to watch myself on that. I was asking myself "should I say that?", but I figured my previous comment was more than obscure enough to create a false impression.

No problem. It could be read either way. I know you knew better, so my comment was more for the benefit of the less experienced members.
