Certainly a fake. The ink color is off, the paper doesn't look right, and the Federal Reserve seal is completely wrong.

Obvious fake.

You can find pictures of genuine notes by searching major auction currency company websites at Heritage or Lyn Knight.

Heritage Auction archive is a great place to see what real examples look like. It's free and they don't ask for your financial info unless you buy something http://currency.ha.com/c/search-res...790+231+1958

How to detect if this real and not?

If he paid less then face for them then that would be a clear sign that it would be a fake.

The 1934 is a lime green seal, correct? This color seal looks like the 1928. Looking up the pics in 3rd ed. us paper money by friedberg.

Either way, looks like price would be no less than $28,000 according to heritage..so that should give you an idea if he bought a real bill.

You said he has 5000 and 10,000 bill(s).. as in numerous? Unless he has a last name of Rockefeller, I doubt any are real.

I sure hope your friend didn't pay face value for those, he would be at a HUGE loss if he did.

Both are fakes. Here are images of genuine notes. Compare the seals -- they are the most obvious giveaway.
