The direction is all wrong for a clash. Also the fields are the only thing affected by a clash. The area affected is deeper into the die. It is a die crack. Happens often the bust area especially quarters.

It's not a scratch, I know the difference in a scratch and some that looks like a small, thin break or crack in the alloy. I wish I could get better pics but the darn thing is in an awkward place. Thanks. Jeff

Jeff, I didn't mean to offend -- if I did so. Just trying to explore all possibilities. Nonetheless, it might be an idea to diffuse the lighting. Have you tried that?

just put it back and keep it save it for another day maybe then you can get better images or something will come in the future to do such things
