I wonder how many CC and S Mint dollars are in this dress. I cannot imagine too many from Philadelphia or Denver.

Hey gyrene... I asked that too of coarse and I was told none. Then I asked when it was constructed (1950s)
Another fact about the silver queen is room 11 is haunted by the ghost of a prostitute that was murdered in the same claw foot tub that still sits in the room. Cost: $80/nite... it was also featured on a ghost hunters episode where she "talked" to them on their equipment with mumbled subjective words

I've visited Virginia City, abeit like a couple decades back. I think it's retained more of its 19th century character than my locl silver boom town of Tombstone.
Other old time mining communities I've been to are Jerome, Arizona & Cripple Creek, Colorado. Either is worth the small detour to get to.
Great post & pics, Cascade.

Thanks lucky, more to come when I get back to the cabin. I'm going to go hike up our waterfall right now. It's raging & beautiful this time of year! I might do a little gold panning for fun at the bottom if it too

If you're in the Reno/Lake Tahoe area, Virginia City is a kinda-scary twisting ride up a mountain to a wonderfully preserved town. It's now sort of like a Disneyland set, but there are some fascinating corners - just read the epitaphs in the graveyard, for example.
