Bobby.
I have always wondered why at times when I try to post a link here I get " page not found" now I know thanks, thought it was just me and I think that is a great idea.

THE OTHER BRUCE.

quote:
How do they spam a site,What do they do?

Someone at this particular site signed up here under 4 different ID's over a 4 month period and just posted links to the site. They had no intention of being a participating member, they just wanted free advertising and backlinks. Locked the first ID after no response to my explanatory email, and they signed up and spammed again, then the cycle repeated 2 more times until I banned the IP from the site. All four had the same IP address and all had emails from this sites domain. They must think I'm stupid I guess. This goes on almost daily, now that we have grown. Most members just don't see much of it because of the diligence of our members and staff.

I never resorted to any of these underhanded spamming tactics in the building of this site. I did it the hard right way with SEO and legitimate link building. So, sites that use these tactics at my expense only buy their domain name a quick one way ticket to the bad word filter as witnessed here in this topic. Like Ron Popeil says, "Set it and forget it".

In fact, another just this past second, bit the dust. New member triumph110, first post's only intention was to spam his site. The topic was removed and an email sent... no reply. This was 2 days ago.

I make my previous post in this thread and move on to new topics, whaddya know? A new topic from this same member spamming his site again.

He's now and his site is now in the bad word filter.

LOL, here's another one, just registered today. Gee... look. From 12/20, no response to reprimand and he will try to spam again.

Does anyone know how to calculate the metal value in different coins? I have gone to Deleted4, but if you do the math it tells you to, you will come up with different totals than they did. So is there any other way to figure this out?

Meanwhile back to your question. I'm not sure exactly what you want. Are you interested in the melt value of each type of coin? With or without wear? For recyclers, jewlers, novelty makers, etc.?
For you to buy or to sell? All have slightly different prices based on current metal values, who wants what, which metals are wanted, etc. For example metal recyclers will pay a very slight amount for cents since they may not want the Zinc. Also, since many actually are worried about laws, they may pay very little for cents.
If interested in Silver only you could do as already noted and just look up percentages in the Red Book and estimate the amount of loss due to wear. Of course even with Silver you would have to find someone that wants those coins for just the Silver content and again the prices will vary considerably. Especially if worried about any melt coin police in the area.
Rest in Peace

as odd as it is there is no law currently that I'm aware of that prohibits melting silver .

Calculate-Metal-Value

I have scales that will weigh one coin,or a bag of coins for the total weight,, its easy to multiply the melt value by total weight and know what the coins or scrap are worth based on that ,, what will be realised when sold depends on what the buyer is offering ,,armed with your total and what is offered you will know exactly what the difference is .

To calculate 90% silver value :

Silver spot price x gram conversion x weight in grams x .90 = silver worth

For Morgan dollar:

(15.15 × .0321507466 × 26.73 × .90) = $11.7177736334

Woops. I haven't been back to this post in a while. Sorry for posting the link to a site not friendly to the forum.

I wasn't aware such issues existed here. I guess no where is safe.

As Just Carl said, I'm not sure what you're asking. If it's for US coins, all the 20th century coins are well documented and can be googled, if nothing else. If it's earlier coins, I really don't think you want to melt them down.

If it's an international coin, then that's out of my league.

But once again, for ANY coin, you should be able to do something like "YEAR COUNTRY NAME" and then "Composition". So something like "1932 US Quarter Composition" on Google should get you somewhere.
