Looks perfectly fine to me as well, XF40 or so. Unlikely counterfeit target.

Quote: Unlikely counterfeit target. I have to disagree; these are among the most counterfeited coins on Earth and I wouldn't be surprised if half the examples posted here through the years have been fakes. This particular example raises no red flags for me, though.

Try the comparative ring tone test, against a known genuine Trade dollar. Take it to a bullion dealer, and have it XRF tested in several locations.

Thanks for the insightful replies so far, I did do a right tone test against a known genuine Morgan dollar and it matched. Unfortunately this is my only Trade dollar. Any ideas if the 0.5 g difference in weight would make a big difference in ring tone/has anybody compared these with that test?

.5 gram difference in weight would not alter the ringtone significantly of two coins of the same alloy.
The difference would be most notifible if the metals were of a different alloy even if the weight was slightly different.

Looks good to me too. It's hard to fake such honest patina. VF 35

This one appears real to me, but those rim bumps might get this coin a details grade. VF details
