I would have opened it. Save the wrapper, people collect the wrappers too.
Nice find!

There is no way I would not open it.

Me neither, I've ripped open at least a couple hundred OBW's over the years....mostly memorial cents though.

Searching OBW rolls is a great way to find RPMs and stuff.

Oh, I would have definitely tried to preserve the wrapper.

No promises though. The coins would still be the primary objective.

My father had a us & foreign wrapper collection. I believe it went back to the '40s, for US. I believe he could tell the age of the wrapper by font style.

Well, good luck. The '54-D WRPM-001 is one of the best.

OWB rolls are the best!
I recently got my hands on 20 of the 1960-D large date rolls, found tons of RPMs.

Yes, was.

However, in my opinion you are better off knowing what was inside.

Maybe, there is always the "Greater fool theory" to consider. It can be amazing what some people will pay for a pig in a poke.

First thing I too would have done is open it. I just like coins and a roll sitting there not opened would drive me nuts.

True.

However, I value knowledge above profit. The extra bucks from the greater fool would not quench my desire to know.

Still just my opinion, of course.
