"Read the rules please. All damage."

Are you referring to "topic titles?"

If so, please allow me to clarify this post. I recently bought this coin for a dollar. I am wondering if it is worth anything. Please help.

Please read the rules or heavily edit the picture because that is disgusting.
RULES: http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/rules.asp

Read the coin. Tell me if that is appropriate. The topic title is fine.

As you can tell by my name, kids are around the forum also needing help on coins. Adding to their vocabulary in a negative way is highly frowned upon.

This is an official 1839 Large Penny that says ONE CENT on the back. I would like to know if this is an error coin.

It was altered at some time, along with being damaged. Some highschoolers likely had a good chuckle with it, but it's just altered. Nothing else about it that's special.

I think it's fine to keep it, just PMD in my opinion.

I don't think most would have noticed the resemblance if it hadn't been pointed out. I sure didn't. Still looks more like an E than a U in the zoomed in photo.

Welcome to the CCF DocSSavage.
Your Braided Hair Large Cent reverse pics have been removed. There are many of these modified "CENT" coins out there.
They are what they are. We can't have that word visible here on this family friendly forum.

Thanks very much to the moderators for taking the time to keep this sight clean. I teach Boy Scouts for the Coin merit badge and often refer them here for a fun place to learn. I really do appreciate your effort in keeping this a site that is amazingly wholesome and with almost no drama.

My personal opinion is that the E looks like an E and never thought of it as anything else. Now that it is pointed out I can see your point of view. Long story short is that the coin is damaged and is not worth much. Thank you.

Understood. Just instead of saying "read the rules" or "thats disgusting" without pointing out what was wrong would have better for the OP to learn from.

As long as you understand now that's ok thanks SSK
