Yeah, they've been doing that for awhile now......a percentage goes towards helping "foundations" for preservation, study, etc.... It's a good idea IMHO

Here in Kansas even too.....we see Bald and Golden eagles fairly regularly. 15 years back we even had a nesting site out at a lake that was "off limits" to the public for fear of disturbing them. Glad to see the return of this bird in healthy numbers !

The program has been to good in Alaska. They have way to many up there. Hope they start catching the young ones and relocate them all over the lower 48. I've lived here for 15 years. In the last 3 or so I've seen a few fly over. Very impressive bird. To think , we could of had a turkey. lol

can someone please tell me how big the gold 5 dollar coin is in this set. Is it bigger than 1/10 about the size of the 1/4?

The Bald Eagle $5 Gold contains slightly less gold than a 1/4 oz Eagle.

The modern $5 and $10 gold commems are at the pre-1933 circulating coinage standards for size and weight.

The mintage figures for the Bald Eagle coins are not finalized yet because they are still on sale- the program has a time limit(end of the year) and a total mintage limit across all products of 750,000 but demand dictates how many are actually minted. As of Aug 10, the mintage for the uncirculated half is 84,097 individuals plus another 22,757 in the Young Collectors Set(total of 106,854) and the mintage for the proof half is 156,910 individuals and another 25,000 in the three coin commem proof set(total of 181,910). Obviously, these numbers will go up before the end of the year. Actual mintage figures are not available on the Mint's website. My source is Weekly Mint Statistics from Numismatic News.
