Um, yay, another app to clutter my phone. I now officially need an app to index my apps. I've installed this thing but have no plans to use it in the immediate future for ordering. Maybe after the Ike set.

Every time someone like this releases a new app, not only do I not install it, I seek out the most unused app on my phone and remove it. Who got the axe yesterday?

I have an iPhone, but only use about 8 to 10 apps on a regular basis. Others just go to the back of the menu or in the extra tabs.
This app gets a place of honor on the front menu, 99% due to it's historical event of the day feature.

Quote: Yeah, there is no way I would use this app on the 11th.
But everyone else should feel free to do so. So I decided to do the experiment that no one else would dare do, try to buy the Eisenhower C&C with the mobile app. I am not an Ike collector, so had no interest in this set. I figured if the app actually worked and I got a set, I would just sell it to someone here who was a collector and missed out. Well the app worked like ....... well like you would have expected. 11:55 I entered the app. Firstly there was no place to shop for the set, the noly mention of the set on the app, was in the upcoming products section and a remind me button. 12:00 rolled around, I pressed reload, hoping that the shop now button would appear. Loading ......loading.........loading, about 45 seconds later, a box appeared "check your internet connection" with an OK box. Now my phone is an HTC One with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, so it is a fast reliable phone. My wifi connection is Fios broad band, again fast and reliable. I was sitting at my desk, right next to the router. So I pressed to "okay" prompt and the app froze. I force stopped the app, rebooted and tried again .......... and again........... and again........ at about 12:11 I rebooted for the ? time and it didn't freeze and brought me to the shop now button, but with the annotation "this product not available" It was sold out. I then went on to fill my cart with other items and checkout without a hitch. First experiment with new app and major release ? BIG FAIL!

App really isn't an app. Like many others, it's just a redirect to their website with a device appropriate style sheet. That's why they did the recent HTML5 redesign. I still don't get why everyone thinks they need to have an app. My insurance company has an app. I don't give a second thought to my insurance except when I pay my bill or have an accident.

Unless it is a native app, I will not install it. I prefer to use Chrome. Even it is a native app, I will remove it if accessing the mobile site via Chrome performs the same or better.

I tried the app also because I had no choice but to use my phone since I was on the way to work, but after the app crashed 4 times on me when trying to check out, I went to the Safari browser. After getting error messages after attempting to enter my cvv code, it somehow went through by miracle.
Moral of the story: avoid the app if it's an important limited release to keep somewhat if your sanity.

While the local court system does provide their law student summer clerks with a desk and supplies to work, a computer is not one of them. I also wasn't sure how those that did have a computer would react to me asking to use their computer to order a coin set. :D Plus the cell service in the courthouse is terrible, so figured my best bet is on the train on the way.
