well john I would be darn glad to tell her that buddy. but see I got these from her house when I went back home on may the 2nd, to bury her. so now worries she wont buy anymore.
i have, of course, been reading and doing my best to learn things and terms and I was looking up memorial pennies and was reading on it somewhere and they had pics that looked just like mine and they were terming it as missing Cud. after reading a little about the dies etc etc and did not think Cud was the correct term, but it went on to say that it was missing the "outter layer". ok so hey thank you both very much and how quick a reply lol awesome. ok now lol how or where can I sale my real error quarters? lol one in the pic was Kansas with In God We Rust lol
thanks again to you both

My condolences to you for your loss duzzitmatterhuh. As to where to sell them, try a local coin shop but I don't think you will get much for them. Wouldn't you rather keep them for sentle mentle value?

Sorry for your loss. I would use ebay for the "IGWR" error. I have sold them between 20-30, but that was a year ago since I put any of those up.

Grease gets on to the die and fills some/all deeper devices. This prevents the striking up of the devices when this happens. It can be minor or major or in between.

Not much interest in these till a large portion (90%+) is affected. I set them aside for images in tubes, but have never sold one as I view them as an event that happened at a time and then the die was cleaned later.

A Cud is when part of the die is broken away on the out are of the die. It often starts off as a crack.

Later this can split off a piece of the die causing a Cud.

The coin will show an un struck area on the one side and a weak side on the opposite side of the coin. (because there is not resistance of the die because of the area missing)

I took absolutely no offense and thankful for what he and everyone else said. But honestly we all told her not to and she did as I've only got 18. She made another one herself which was all circulated.
Thanks again yall I appreciate it. Wish could chat as I've several questions about my coins and errors.
Thanks again

wow thanks for the lesson Coop and everybody elses input and john the questions shall be coming lol I took a LOT of pics to post with questions. I have a ton of pennys and have found a lot that, to me, look like they have a crack on them and different like lil dent spots kind of like it got shot, but no color difference. I have some that look like there are finger prints IN the penny.
You're welcome Osprey and thank you John and I was only asking where because of OTHER things I've read lol the first thing I said to the misses was if they were worth money then it would go for our lil girls college or keep until she's 44 lol
Ok arybody the questions will come and I'm going to post 1 soon but I'm going to educate me a lil first lol

Great tutorial on die cracks and Cuds Coop. Nice to see examples of the actual dies that cause them.
