Interesting find and thanks. I would have expected a star from the same series as well. Will look into this.
By the way, I think the term you want is "pack", not "brick", which is something much different!

I thought the word "strap" referred to the band around the "pack" of 100 notes.

Here is the correct terminology.
Strap = 100 notes
Bundle = 1,000 notes
Brick = 4,000 note
Cash Pak = 16,000 notes
2k in 2's would be considered a bundle.

Back in the day I had friends at the big money center banks I searched over 1000 bundles plastic sealed straight from the BEP, mostly ones. It was not unusual to get star replacements from the previous series in the straps when new date/series were being introduced.
