Here's an ngc article about the Binion collection that was sold off in the early 2000's... http://www.ngccoin.com/news/viewart...IDArticle=37I agree with 63 on this one due to cheek breaks. But what's that black on the lower obverse and under the eagle? Is it in a problem free slab? The reverse black looks like terminal toning but the obverse black has a strange pattern. Maybe someone spilled a cocktail on it at the casino? Edited by Cascade

I have now changed the photographs (they are now straight from the camera).

The coin in the photo does not look MS65. Why do you think the slab has been opened? Can you post a photo of the slab front and back?

Well, I was going to say that Peace dollars are funny, and yours could be up to MS65. The luster is great, and there aren't any big digs. A few rub marks, and the fields and devices are in great shape. Don't post the grade so quick next time :-)  Edited by edweather

Doubtful that it was opened. Read a couple of the threads about how to free coins from their holders. It usually involves a big hammer or a band saw.
I have found that most many of the Binion hoard coins are over graded. Due to the size of the hoard and the number of coins graded all at once, one would suspect that human nature would dictate that the coins probably ended up being graded against each other and less agaist a standard as the endless grading went on. Despite NGC's care in "blind" grading submissions.

I don't know how many times you've edited the pics but the ones I see now look like a MS64. It's doubtful the slab has ever been opened. NGC slabs have a notable seam, sometimes big enough to run a thumbnail through it.

I think the first set of pics might be the most neutral, so I'll say 63.

First set of pictures were taken this morning without a flash, second set taken later today with a flash.
If it's been graded "generously" because of the number of coins in the Binion hoard then I'm OK with that. I guess I like the story behind them.

The second round of photos is more forgiving, but I agree with the others - no higher than MS-63.
