I don't get why anyone would want anything to do with banks and their greed, and yes they are greedy, making billions while paying pennies back in interest. I dumped them all, and joined credit unions.

I am also with a credit union I'm no sheep in this world sir. However I use TD to dump my coins and cash them out to bring to my credit union to keep them happy. They love unloading boxes of change to me however it's quite a journey for me by means of walking or bus. Send me an email Robby all good now

Only credit union around me I was going to try to make a dump bank, and when I went to open an account they refused. I called their head office and after some time the manager there saying there should have been no problem looked at where it was and said, and I quote, "all the tellers and managers there are A-thingies". He apologized that was the only branch or whatever in my area and said if I drove 100 miles to the one they were in they would open the account and the local would have no choice but to take my deposits of any kind.
I didn't because I didn't want to deal with those people.
I say neither are really good, nor do they have to be. Like insurance companies the law requires you to use them so they can do whatever they want and are mostly unregulated in regards to quality of service. Also funny enough, just like the post office. At least they are losing business to UPS and such now.
What is the difference between bank and credit union? Were you able to get any coins anywhere Zb?

Difference between bank and credit union.
'Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives that conduct business for the mutual benefit and general welfare of their member-owners. Banks are for-profit financial corporations who conduct business to maximize the price of its stock and profit for stockholders.'

Having some what of a silver tounge can come in handy. I am able to get coins at my credit union but I do not abuse that I pick up at most one box every other week and I told the manager that I would not bring the coins back(despite that they have a coin counting machine) but it's alot if work I understand. I get one from my bank every so often when they are nice enough to give, and after I explain I'm a collector for the 100th time, because they have lots of questions for requesting a box of pennies. Credit Unions are owned by account holder like stock in a company if you have money in the credit union essentially you own part of the credit union(so they say).

Well if YOU own it by having an account, they shouldn't be able to refuse ANYONE ANY sort of currency acquisition, so long as it doesn't have some weird fee like foregn currency exchange.
But do the tellers and manager also count as account holders?
good for being able to get coins. I doubt I could do the numbers other people do like 4 boxes of anything in a week, that is just too much to do unless I had a room just to do it. I also like a box or two a month as a limit. After washing your hands from coin filth you need to let them heal so they don't bust open being dry in the winter months too.

Business account is your best option since businesses need change to operate on in order to earn money to deposit into the bank which the bank can turn around and make bad investments with You can't just walk in and get a business account. I just set up another business account and with lawyer fees, incorporating, and getting my federal tax number I spent probably around $1000.00. Not to mention I need to keep a substantial amount in the account at all times or get hit with ridiculous fees. Like I've said before if hunting I your thing there are ways to get rolls. Getting upset at banks for not catering to your "wants" is wasted energy.

Trust me I know it's no picnic with banks and I don't waste energy dealing with them(if I can help it), but if you have any suggestions on getting boxes of coins outside of a bank I am all ears.

If the managers an tellers have accounts which they should then yes they are owners aswell. Again this is what I've been told an what I've read in the fine print however there are tons of loopholes nothing is guaranteed except man's obsession with shiny metals.
And my credit union never gives me trouble just big banks which is all I can find being in the city small banks have fees or rules I'm not willing to deal with. And I can go through a box of pennies in a little under an hour dimes are a breeze, and nickels seem to take longer for me. And yes winter is rough, it's already arrived for me...but a tip: wash with an aloe based soap it will help reduce the drying skin.

Well I learned more about credit unions than I had from trying to get an account at one. Thanks. I use Skin So Soft lotion in both warm and cold months because its a good moisturizer and also contains something that seems to be a very effective mosquito repellent. Switched to it year ago when they stopped selling DEET and never went back. Quote: You can't just walk in and get a business account. More lies from people wearing blinders and thinking their small corner of the world is the same for everyone. Must be nice wearing those rose-tinted glasses cause everyone obviously can get boxes of halves as easily as arby and Jack does. Large dollars bags are overflowing to everyone like they come to Mr. Click or coinsrus1000. Wait, this isn't true because we are in a thread talking about how hard it is to get coins. So maybe your statement isn't true either? YOU couldn't just walk into YOUR bank and open an account for YOUR business. I walked in with the federal tax number and an amount to deposit and opened a business account. No minimum balance required either. Different banks operate differently, and your TYPE of business will determine some other factors as well as the type of business account you get. All those fancy bells and whistles they call "features" for the accounts make a difference in what it takes to get them and even IF a credit check is required! Please don't state your anecdotal evidence and universal truth. As I said in regard to "legal tender" thread, banks do different things as they operate under different state laws. You will have to check your state laws and the bank o see what you can do. I suspect for more people than not, just having the tax number and some money to deposit and they will get a business account. This might upset you, but then maybe the same sort of advice you are giving to people wanting to CRH that the bank doesn't want them and to just suck it up effectively, should be taken by yourself? Maybe the bank made you jump through all those hoops because they didn't really want you as a business account holder, thus tried their best to make it harder for you to get a business account? So do you side with the banks that made you jump through those hoops to open your business account, while it took me only $200 opening deposit and about 30 minutes to open mine; or might you want to side with the people that figure this is all nonsense and a business account and getting coins to CRH should be as easy as pie for anyone? at least 21 and want to open a business account for your self-employed lawn mowing, get that tax number and go to a bank and try to make a business account. I would bet anything that in most states it would be an easy task and there is your access to boxes of coins as a service to the banks business customer. Now don't abuse it by ordering 30 boxes a week, or bringing the coins back because no business uses that much change locally, nor does it use coinage that poorly that they would get so much out that they are bringing it ALL back. I never tried but asked if it would be a problem at my bank to get 1 box of everything a month, and they asked me too "just try to spread it out over the month cause those boxes can be heavy for both of us". EVERYONE, check your state laws and banks policies before you believe ANYTHING you read on the internet. I said that several times in the "legal tender" thread, but it needs to be expressed over and over it seems for people to get it. Their is NO universal policy that banks or states must follow regarding coinage unless you have a debt with them.

It doesn't cost any more for the federal tax number. This is jsut if you even have employees in your business you can properly file to pay them. This is free. IF you are incorporating then that costs money depending on where you are, BUT you wouldn't have to incorporate to get a business account. with ebay you must, by law, have your sales and use tax information with the IRS. You can jsut go to your local IRS office, file the paper work and wait for your Sales And Use tax forms and you are a business. Then get your EIN filed with the federal government to have your ability to employe people, and THAT is what the banks need most of the time to open a business account. something from the Federal government classifying you as a business John Doe dba Zbcoins9192. again, this may be different for your state or bank, and you need to check those. But you never even have to use the federal employer tax identification number for anything other than opening the bank acount if you don't want other employyes, or need them at that time. Sales & Use tax information is FREE from the IRS Federal Employee Tax ID is FREE from the Federal Government (unless this changed recently) Then you SHOULD have all you need to open a business account at a bank and do business on ebay. Again, depending on what hoops your state or bank (credit union?) makes you jump through beyond the government requirements. the more options you choose to add like an ebay store fees, incorporation (filing on schedule S and schedule C), etc will cost more. but as simple as it takes to be in business (ie the lawn mowing service example) is the FEIN and a 1040 to file personal taxes. for ebay you should still get the Sales and Use tax information to pay your taxes because you should be collecting tax from EVERY buyer. Just ask the bank, the IRS office if you have any other questions and they will be glad to help. at least the IRS will because more forms filled out means more money they get to take from people in taxes. BUT, even with all that, and a business account at a bank, it doesn't mean they will just let you get all sorts of boxes of coins because banks have that right to be jerks, cause they are a business now, not a service industry with responsibilities to the people anymore.

Good luck with both the account and coins, as well if you actually start a business. More money earned means more you can CRH or higher value coins.
