I've never been to a major coin show .but I do very well at the small local shows. usually always able to pick up what I want at a good price. I used to buy a lot of coins through e-bay, but got tired of inferior coins. I only have one LCS in my area usually high priced and charge tax. I stay completely away from online dealers especially if they don't show photos of their coins.

I haven't voted yet because I'm having a difficult time choosing. I get lots of small to medium size purchases on ebay that I'm happy with, lots of varying purchases at my LCS, and like coin shows and auction houses for larger purchases. All (most) of the above, I suppose.

I prefer the seller as opposed to where they sell. In other words, dealer X might have a web presence and sell directly via that service, also sell on ebay, and CCF!. They might even have such "old" clientele that they still mail out a yearly price list to old customers. They may sell at local and national shows too. Auction houses can certainly be a great place to buy if you are after more valuable coins. I can't tell how many times I've watched ebay for months for a particular coin in a particular grade only to end up buying it from a Heritage auction and actually getting it for less (including postage and buyers fees) than any offering on ebay. The seller, not where they sell, is what keeps me going back.

I live in an area with few coin stores (1) and very few coin shows so I buy mostly on ebay. When I buy Certified coins it's very easy of course but buying raw coins can be hit or miss.

Coin shows for me; I do not buy coins online, so coin shows give the most variety of what I can buy.

ebay or LCS. I've yet to find any deals at the coin shows here -- Everything is way overpriced and the dealers act like they're married to their merchandise.

I PREFER to buy mine at our coin club meetings, whether it be the normal silent auction, one of the Live Auction days or our Members Only show... There wasnt an option for that so I chose " ebay", 'cause thats where I get the rest of my crap collection

I buy most of my coins in online auctions other than $bay. (Proxibid, icollector,GC, etc) If you are knowledgeable and patient, there are great deals to be had.
Secondarily, coin shows.

My LCS is a paradise for me with GREAT prices for mixed junk I love. Makes me enjoy every visit But in the lack of proximity (local is very relative), I have stuck to " ebay" and made a bunch of purchases. I should stop doing that, my wallet hurts

Coin shows for me, easier to get better deals there with more folks selling coins. Plus, it's a great way to learn more about the hobby.

There is no way I can imagine that anything can beat a coin show for deals, values, etc. And no insurances, wrong coins sent, lost in mail, postage and on and on with all the things people deal with via the internet.

I see no one has picked pawn shops. I prefer coin shows, but I have had luck on occasion with a local pawn shop. Like any coin show it can be hit or miss, but I have gotten what I considered to be some good deals.
