Early date Lincoln, wood grain, too much wear on the wheat stalks for higher than VF-25/30 Nice coin.  |

SSK , Ok ,you got me. Don't know how I came up with that grade, but I still have to say: obv-VF30/REV-EF40. I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong.

I'm in the XF40 crowd. Obverse is tough to grade with the woodgrain, reverse looks to be at least XF40 to me. Seeing this one in hand would help a lot.

In hand the coin is woodgrained. The reverse, I think, looks even better than the photo. The obverse woodgrain, especially around lincoln's head is distracting in the photo but not so much in hand. I can be convinced it's either VF30 to EF45. But just not sure. Probably closer to 30-35 if I'm being completely honest with myself. It's a nice looking coin in hand. Glad I was able to pick it up as it was one of the missing coins from the series for me. |

I have a VG-8 1912D and I know that it is hard to find a 1912D in good condition and I have been tryiong to upgrade ours but, this one is pretty nice just goes to show that pictures will never be the same as the coin 'in hand'.

Not sure how you would get an EF grade with the amount of wear on this one. Coat lapel worn into neck, flat jaw and cheek bone, no ear detail. This one looks more like wear and less like a weak strike to me.

Reverse has XF40 details. Obverse VF25 or 30 but some could be from strike. I usually go with reverse for these but since I'm not sure about what is soft strike and what is wear I gotta go with VF30

Barely any cheek/jaw separation but the reverse tells most of the story.

Obverse is a solid VF-25 and reverse is a '45.

I would not attempt a number, but I will add that I think it is a very attractive coin.
