Quote: For some reason I had it in my head that no US gold coins can exceed a face value of $50 by law. Is that not true? Previously stated... Quote: The 2015 American Liberty High-Relief Gold Coin was created under authority granted to the Secretary of the Treasury by federal law - 31 U.S.C. Section 5112 (i)(4)(C). I read it. Clear as mud. I am not a lawyer, but I assume this makes it possible.

Thanks ChildofWheat. I tossed and turned the night before the release and still wasn't sure when I pulled up the mint web site a couple of minutes before the launch. But obviously I ended up following through and I was glad I did once I had the coin in my hand. It is much prettier in person I think. Interesting mint error you have there~!! Perhaps your asking price is a tad high tho. Thanks for the clarification JBuck

For my contribution, here's something a bit offbeat - a revolutionary issue from Chiconcuautla (Puebla) on behalf of the Francisco Madero Brigade.

That's a cool piece. It definitely looks like it was hastily produced.

That's a nice looking coin. I like the relative simplicity of the design.

Here's our Remembrance Day commem and the Toonie celebrating the poem In Flanders Field. The Toonie shows the composing of Poem by John McCrea a physician during the second battle of Ypres May 1915. I thought these were fitting Remembrance Day coins, especially a 100th Anniversary of a famous poem. I hope you enjoy.

Came across this one earlier today while sorting some of my world coins - It was a "bargain bin" find in too nice of a condition not to snag.
