Don't forget Table tennis. I'm actually intrigued on the idea of a house or center of pennies. Of course we can't use zincolns unless we want it to fall down in a couple years HAHAHA. I'm wondering what it would take to create something like that. Penny floors and Dollar sofas too http://www.designrulz.com/product-d...using-coins/

With 78,800 bricks of cents at 8.5" x 4" x 3.25" a box, you'd have a solid 5,038.97 cubic feet, roughly a cube 17.14 feet on each side. With that many bricks, you could have a good sized house (or community center).

Weight, however, would be an issue. With 78,800 bricks weighing about 18 pounds each, you'd be looking at 709.2 tons of 2016 cents. Let's hope we're not building on some soft land.

Likewise, cost of materials for just the bricks comes out to $1,970,000, making a pricey venture as well.

We can engineer around that.

Yes, with some piles made of all the cents we collectively own.

Of course if we all hoarded that many boxes it would begin to cause a shortage and they would increase production. We would then have to acquire even more boxes to reach that 10% mark.

I would not want to tap our collections, but I hear there are some vaults full of unwanted dollar coins...

I meant the boxes we're hypothetically buying for this hypothetical CCF community center.

edit: punctuation

Yes. I don't think the government would be too happy about the project- it would be like the mid sixties all over again.

I would hope they would get the hint and stop making them for circulation.

I'm good with that. If they stop at the end of this year, then by next year the half dollar will have taken over as the longest-lasting US coin denomination, which I would like.
