Same here. I suspect this may be a crudely tooled legit, worn ancient. The deepness of the recessed lines is incongruous with the amount of wear on the high points. The beak, for example, is flattened out with no details, and yet the circles of the eyes right above are excessively deep. The "fish scale" feathers are really deep here too, as are many of the lines (gouges?) on the obverse. I also don't know what to make of the "A" of AOE on the reverse...never seen one like that.

Just my Two Cents here. Not my area (sold off my one and only owl years ago), so maybe I'm way off base...maybe it's fine.

I don't think it will grade at all. It's a fake.

augustus1, those are also my reasons for thinking this a fake. There's too many style abnormalities. And the 14 gram weight also points to a fake. An authentic Owl, with that minimum amount of wear, would not weigh as low as 14 grams.

You could always send it to David R Sear's Ancient Coin Certification Service. His opinion on the authenticity of ancient coins is respected throughout the collecting community, even world wide. Of course though, it will cost a few dollars and you have to send him the coin to look at. But you will get a well respected opinion on your coin.
