It is a proof, I'll give you that much. I wouldn't have got it for the 7070 otherwise.

I'll post the grade around noon on Friday, or if no one says anything for a day.

Okay, it's graded PCGS PR68, Cert no. 70040271.
Is it worth cracking, or would I risk damaging it?

Think I was closest. I almost said PR67. ;)

The slab can be cracked open without damaging the coin. The real issue is do you really want to do that with a PCGS certified PR68 coin? That's probably a personal decision that you'll need to make on your own.

In hindsight, I would have been better off purchasing a lower grade example. This would look a lot better in my type set than the circulated 57 that's there now, but I'm not sure I would want to take it out. The coin also has a nice cameo from some angles.

It's generally my personal choice to leave certified coins in the slabs. But as with anything in life, there are always exceptions. In this case, I'm guessing you didn't pay big bucks for this Roosie dime. I'm guessing $25 or less. If so, that's a great deal and since you don't have much invested, you are not out much if you crack it out of the slab.

It was $45. Not a great deal, but still well below the NGC and PCGS price guide estimates.

I would leave it alone, isn't there a decent premium on stuff higher than 66, whether MS or PR? I have a couple of beautiful ungraded high MS Rosies I will be able to offer in just a few more posts, very reasonable.
