I make my living from noble metals but I don't "collect" them as I once did. It's all industrial now, and metal is metal (.999) so I don't care that my bullion actually gets physically melted. I don't melt coins unless they are bullion, as I would never insert unknown alloys into my mix.

I have several kilo's of "Junk Silver". I don't think of it as bullion tho, To me it is an accumulation of old circulated silver coins that are pleasing to have Also a large part of my collections could be considered as "Junk Silver"

I acquire Silver Eagles on a regular basis, and US coins for my SLQ's and Morgans to add to my collections.

I don't think "bullion" and "collecting" belong in the same sentence.

I would say yes. Not sure what level I would fall into.
Maybe 50 1oz silver coins in my collection that I have paid a premium for.

Definitely. I love bullion coins so much more than plain rounds.

I think you're a bullion investor or a silver collector. Absolutley nothing better or worse about either. As an investor, you buy to get bullion as close to spot as possible. As a collector, you look for aesthetics, rarity, value above spot price. "Bullion Collector" is an oxymoron (IMHO).

Bullion is not bullion if the collector is willing to pay a significant premium for a particular bar or round. He is a collector. Nothing wrong with that.
I am an accumulator of junk silver bought as part of job lots, that happen to have silver in them. In these cases I write the value of silver off, or at least a long way below spot value, when I am valuing the lot as a whole.
I have no specialist silver bars or rounds. I do have a 1 ounce platinum koala, bought at spot +2%, many years ago.

I used to buy silver maples but now I rather just buy junk silver. why buy silver rounds with a premium when you can buy junk silver coins at below spot. But as long as you enjoy doing what you're doing thats what mathers.

I collect bullion coins from all over the world. Not into it as much as I used to be, but I've got a bit of a collection going. It's a bad time for me to have lost interest considering the affordability of silver at the moment.

RichieD613, I think your math is off. Junk silver has a similar premium to maples. At 12.25 x face, you are paying more than $17 per ounce of silver.

Yep, that's me. Pandas, Kookaburras, Lunar Series, Elephants, Libertads. I love my bullion silver coins in their many sizes and strikes.
