My husband bought me a National Parks Quarter Collector Map and I got a 2014 S Arches with it. On the front, it reads "For the first time since the 1950s! U.S. Mint strikes circulating S-mintmark quarters at the San Francisco Mint."

These are circulating quality but are only sold to collectors. They only make their way into circulation if collectors dump them.

Very likely until the ATB series ends in 2021. And if there's a follow-up series, then in 2032 I suppose. Or until the US Mint decides making these is not profitable.

Super Find ...... Thanks for posting .....

The Mint is trying to put coins back into focus and they are certainly minting some beautiful ones, only issue is they are minting a ton of them!

I'm not sure what you mean by "circulating quality."

I'm still learning, so bear with me.

They are minted in the same manner as any other coin meant for circulation- struck once on standard planchet with a high speed press and no special handling.

biokemist6, I understand that part, but when I saw the post about "someone paid a premium" for it, I knew my husband got it free with the map. So, I got confused. Nothing new. LOL

To add contrast, uncirculated coins in the annual mint sets a struck with higher pressure, at a slower speed, and are given better handling when done.
