Unfortunately it looks like a cast counterfeit to me, since it has a porous look. The MM is off too.

The S mint mark seems a bit big? I took a close up of my circulated 1932-S.

I can see the brass showing through the silver plating. My fake 1792 Half Disme is the same story.

Hi Thanks guys , always new stuff to learn which adds to ones knowledge, might as well polish it up and see what comes up, I got this in a collections of coins which I got for next to nothing, the others being State Quarters and this one and a 1944 brass penny were in the end sleeve, just looked dirty to me until I did some research, does feel like silver though, but if that brass comes up ill frame it as a fake ,i cant understand why people would make such things, its quite off putting when you want to buy a coin these days. This site is really great, not an avid coin collector , just what I pick up if it looks old , Thanks for all you expert advice . Zal

Agree with the group: the entire coin appears to be a forgery. The usual technique is to take a genuine silver 1932 Philadelphia quarter (quite inexpensive in circulated grades) and add either an S or D mintmark to simulate the much more valuable San Francisco or Denver-mint coin. Maybe the counterfeiter can save a few bucks per piece by just stamping out complete fakes in mass quantities.

Chinese counterfeit, 100%. Where did you acquire the album? Can you post pics of the album itself with the other coins that were in it that you've mentioned?
