That is a tough one ...

I have one similar that has been in and out of my 12S hole a few times.

You mean you didn't message the seller to use a loupe to confirm an s or d V?

Hope it's a chicken dinner winner. Heck, why not get it just to see at that price

Btw, how did that El Niņo downpour a week or two ago go around your parts? Water weight snapped a huge limb on a tree in my front yard.

Full liberty, but the MM could go either way. Good luck.

I went back this morning and looked at it again and I now think it is a "D" mint coin with some gunk around the mintmark giving the illusion of an "S".

On further review, you can see some of that same "gunk" around some of the lettering, particularly the U and N in United. That gunk, damage or whatever it is, appears to alter the sharpness of the lettering similiar to what is being seen with the mintmark.

For $4 though, it was worth a shot and is still a nice coin for a mid-grade 7070 type set.

Looks like a 1912-S to me ... let us know what you see once the coin is in hand.

Best of Wishes ... that would be quite a score indeed.

I'm not just saying it looks like an S based on the serifs, but based on the overall shape of the mintmark.

Will do Cascade! Got a tarp and sandbags for now.

The shape of the left side is where I'm hopeful.
