Pocket change, there is really no fixed price. ebay.ca will give you an idea of the broad price range, most of the actual hoard have been graded and the higher the grade, the higher the price.

very nice I purchased one recently that I don't think looks as good as yours (I am hoping mine will grade a 64, should know in a week or two).

I too managed to purchase one when they first were released. If I recall there was tax added to the amount totaling $560.

While I have kept it in the original capsule and clamshell, I've debated for some time sending it to ICCS or PCGS for certification in hopes of someday being able to sell it at a decent price and maybe even double my money.

At just under 1/4 ounce AGW, I'm sure the 1914 will still fetch a healthy premium but highly doubtful the $1500, $2000 $45,00 or astronomical $801,000 prices listed that I saw on ebay.

One can only dream!

Nice thing is that unlike with most of the stuff coming out of the Circle M Ranch, this is one item worth hanging on to that I won't have to worry about losing my shirt on.

Any thoughts?

This series is one of my favourites.

I think these will certainly hold their value. If I were to have the whole set, I'd want them to be just as they were from the mint, rather than in a slab. I'd rather determine the grade myself even if I am far from being an expert grader.

This card is from DBM's link, Trip Back in Time.

The reference to these gold coins having been "called in" is very intriguing because I got the impression it wasn't common knowledge that the Bank of Canada held the coins as a portion of the Gold Reserve, simliar to the rational of the United States.

The Potato Chip card from the '50s (or 60's) says it to be so. Then years later I suppose either the information became lost by the coin community or it was assumed the BofC melted them down until the year 2012, when the "gold hoard" was disclosed.

An interesting piece of history --

Good luck!!

From the pics, I see ms63 for the gold and an MS for the 1953 (probably ms64).

I bought my 1913 $5 back in the 1970's. I still regret not getting them all.
