I would have to see the back but I don't know how it would not be considered just fantasy. If it was closer to the correct years maybe counterfeit but you talking about over 80 years. As long as the seller are selling it with no intent to deceive and as just a fantasy coin I think it would be ok. Now if the reverse says .90 or.999 fine silver and isn't I would say it leans towards counterfeiting.

If you struck a Lincoln Cent with the date 1863 would that he considered a counterfeit? Or would it be obvious it was a fantasy coin.
Rest in Peace

Let's be honest here, folks. This doesn't even DESERVE the title counterfeit. Of fakes. They are just plain junk.

I would agree it would be a pass at a dealers $1 junk box. Maybe .25 idk. The eagle looks so mushy

are they even legal to sell?

Yes. Since they are not imitating real coins, they are not technically fake.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I put them as a 24hour auction ending tonight. I made it very clear in the description that they are not real coins. I just want to get rid of them.

Yes. If they're not silver, don't imply that they might be. That's probably the only reason it's already over $9.

What you will do is message the winner and tell them you made a terrible mistake and you don't think they are actually silver and ask them if they would want to cancel the deal. They will most likely agree and refund their money if they already paid. After that sell them as tokens of base metal. Don't include the world silver in the title or description. Anything else and you could be slammed with a bad review and defective product case and come out of the deal giving them away and gaining a bad reputation. If you test it for silver and make sure it's not plated it one thing. However as other noted I'm 99% it's not even plated.

If anyone want to play a perverse game, want to guess how much they will get up to? I'm assuming there will be enough idiots to get it up to $25 and the shipping, Its like a super sad train wreck happening in slow motion.

When you tell them that it's prob not silver maybe send them a link to this thread in it. So that they know you didn't have bad intentions.

Yes I just messages the winner the following:

Hello, before I ship these coins I just wanted to tell you that I did the magnet test and these coins are not silver. I was trying to edit the listing but I couldn't because people had already bid. I will wait to ship until the morning incase you decide to cancel. I am just trying to avoid any negative feedback and be as honest as possible. Thank you
