stuff like this doesn't make me happy for you at all. it makes me feel sorry for the lady who probably could of used the money, and didn't know better. Part of being a coin person is teaching those who don't know. but jmo.

Just because I work at a bank doesn't mean I'm rich. I have kids and a mortgage. I eat ramen noodles and hand in my rolled coins too. Like Steele said, people don't stick around and watch me count them.

Tellers are under a lot of pressure nowadays to sell banks services (fees). Upper management can be ruthless and cutthroat in their relentless push on tellers to sell. Teller turnover rate is high. My wife was let go from one position because she refused to pound the pavement to sell bank services to businesses. Telling - not a job I would relish! So, a little silver bonus doensn't hurt -

Nick your not a teller in NY are you?
One of my old dump banks use to have a very nice teller named Nick, always enjoyed talking to him about the hobby. I just don't use the bank anymore due to the management, the tellers were extremely nice.
Congrats and may you find more in your tray.

Congrats on your finds, and thank you for sharing!
My grandmother was a bank teller for 23 years in a small-town farming community. Even in a small-town farming community she managed to accumulate a fair number of silver coins during her career. She earned very little money by the hour, and her pension was only about $100/month when she retired. Being a bank teller is not a lucrative position. I'm guessing your teller position is also not very lucrative "by the hour". Enjoy your occasional silver finds!
